Today I visited Paperbark Café for lunch. Paperbark Café was my deceased husband’s favourite nursery café and over many years we have eaten many delicious meals there.
Today friends took me to the café for lunch as today would have been husband’s 79th birthday.
We were so disappointed by our experience.
The vanilla slices are still MAGNIFICENT!!
But the quality of the rest of our meal was far below the standard I had promised my friends they would enjoy at Paperbark.
The share plate is a shadow of its former magnificence and the breakfast burger and chicken burger my friends ordered were meagre and disappointing.
We don’t mind spending the sort of prices charged for generous servings and delicious food, but this is not what we experienced today.
Our drinks were fine, but next time we will come for morning or afternoon tea to delight in the vanilla slices and perhaps a Devonshire tea, but definitely give lunch a miss.
I am disappointed and saddened.

Three lunch meals ordered were not up to scratch and the attitude of the manager was rude and most unpleasant. The poached egg on the Caesar salad was ice cold. When we told the manager she rudely said 'yes/ they were made this morning and kept in the fridge'. She walked off in a huff and nearly 10 minutes later we were still waiting for her to return with a replacement, but by now the meal was finished so we cancelled the egg. She did not apologise or even care. I have never heard of a cold or pre-made poached egg! The other meal was a chicken burger for nearly $23. The piece of chicken was tiny and the bun was dry - not toasted and no butter or spread on it. And while it is nice to have crispy bacon, it was so crisp it could not be cut. The third meal was ok but some of the pasta had stuck together, which should not happen in a restaurant. We will definitely not eat there again.

Looking for plants and pots on a Sunday arvo so called into the cafe at Kuranga Nursery for some lunch. We sat outside and it was very pleasant. There were a few wasps about but they didn't linger long. We shared two dishes - a potato rosti and a frittata. Both very tasty and plenty on the plate. Coffee wasn't too bad. The service was ok - a little slow but it was quite busy. We could look out over the nursery and a bush area so that was quite relaxing!

Four of us met for lunch at this busy cafe. Service was quick and efficient. (Though a smile would have been nice!) The lunch menu had a good range of things ranging in price from $13.90 for a vegetarian pie to around $24.00 for Lamb shanks. There was plenty of variety from pies, pananis, burgers and salads - all good lunch fare. Two of us had a caesar salad and the person who had a garlic allergy was offered a different dressing; another had the smoked salmon croissant with capers & greens and cream cheese. Plenty of filling and very tasty - tho the croissant was toasted to within an inch of its life which made it very flakey. Heating it would have been better perhaps. The panini had a substantial filling and was very nice. We requested a change in each item we ordered and this was done without fuss. Coffee after was not bad either - and the cups were a decent size! Great place for lunch - and we will return.

This is a really nice cafe/retail store. The retail store sells lots of jams , delicious macafdamia butter, soaps, handcremes, gourmet foods. The cafe is really nice with a view of the Nursery gardens. The scones are really nice with gourmet jam and the delicious macadamia butter. The food and cakes are really nice I have been there a few times and each time have been happy with the food and coffee.
