Just outside of the true CBD this hotel is convenient for both Roma Street Station and the city itself. Not a bad hotel with a roof top pool and gym. There are cafes, pubs, shops and entertainment nearby as well.

The rooms themselves are fairly standard as this level of hotel, though with nice views of the river and city (depending on the orientation of your room, but there are nice views in all directions).

I was staying in this hotel for approx a week last year when me and my partner touch down in Brisbane to start a new life. It give me a relaxing week wtih cafe, restaurant and shopping just around the corner.

I picked this hotel for our one night stay because we were seeing a show over at Southbank, and I thought this hotel sounded ok for a cheap and fairly standard type hotel.

I didn't realise I'd actually stayed here before when it was called Oaks North Quay. I'd stayed here about 6 years previously and wasn't hugely impressed with the room or hotel as a whole, but it wasn't too bad.

This stay was worse though. I had booked through an online discount website, and when I arrived at the hotel, the rather surly check in woman said they had no record of my booking. I had the print out with me but they couldn't find anything. I then had to leave the hotel, walk several blocks with my heavy bag to find an internet cafe, and print out the actual email correspondence containing the booking print out. When I came back they found me finally, but no apology or anything at all.

The room...not impressive at all. Peeling paint, one lamp didn't work, the TV didn't work, the bathroom is just not an inviting place, with a blindingly bright light and window that, in the morning, streams bright sunlight right in your face while you're trying to brush your teeth...

The bed I must admit was really comfortable but I didn't get much sleep unfortunately because of the traffic noise. I don't think the windows were double glazed.

Also, the location isn't the best, though it of course depends where you're going to be spending your time in Brisbane. We found it was right in between the two bridges that go over to Southbank, so it took us longer than we'd have liked to get over there, and the walk itself along either North Quay or I think George St is a bit unpleasant and loud / traffic-filled. It's not as close to Queen Street Mall as other hotels I favour.

All in all, slightly below average.
