Took them 6 weeks to reject my application. They didn't even let me know when it happened - I had the find out by calling them and following up multiple times about the unusual wait time and was then told it was already given to someone else. I was waiting on the result for so long and they couldn't even send me an email to let me know.

Additionally, property was not clean at all and I was intending to get a cleaner in when I moved in. I asked if it had been cleaned and she said yes but there was still food marks in the kitchen etc. Yet of course you'd be expected to pay for a bond clean at the end even though it hadn't been cleaned for you.

Generally, a bad experience and I will be avoiding in the future.

i was excited when i found out that the owner of the property i rent decided to switch to a different real estate / property management company.

I've lived in the property for a couple of years and unfortunately don't remember having had any good experiences with their service. When i first moved in they the property was not clean (the bathroom still had soap scum, as did the kitchen sink, the oven was sticky, the grill had remnants of what looked like a cheese toastie, the blinds were dusty and the list did not stop there). I was honest on my inspection sheet and raised all these issues. When i questioned if the place had been professionally cleaned they advised that it had and that given the age of the property i shouldn't expect that everything would be squeaky clean and brand new (one would expect a professional cleaning company to put a little elbow grease to clean soap scum and mould). They arranged for the cleaners to come again before i officially moved in but they never showed up - instead i found a business card in the door saying that no one was home and they couldn't get in - No one at Pennisi arranged entry for them.I told the property manager that when i eventually move out, it was my obligation to leave the property in the same condition as i found it - i certainly didn't want to leave it dirty! I figured if you want a job done right, do it yourself so i cleaned it myself.

I went through the inspection sheet with a fine tooth comb (usually i wouldn't be so thorough but given the initial bad experience i was not going to take any chances). There were so many incorrect observations on that sheet. Fly screens on the windows were not in perfect condition, some of them were broken, the doorbell did not work, there were scuff marks on the wall - i noted this and they said that they will be fixed, to this day they have not (hopefully the new property managers will get onto this pronto).

Another frustrating experience i had was with the master bedroom door which had lock on the doorknob. Given that it was on the knob, it also required a key to unlock it from the outside the room. I asked where this key was when i first moved in and Pennisi did not have it - instead they advised to put tape over the push-in lock to prevent us from locking it, how ridiculous. As Murphys Law would have it the door was accidentally locked and when i called about it, the property manager was nothing but rude and treated me as if i was an irresponsible child. "How could this possibly happen? Did you put the tape over the lock like i told you? This is just riduclous" Needless to say i gave them a piece of my mind. If you've lost a key to the door - replace the lock!

Also their so called 24 hour number is pointless - you get transferred to a call centre who just take a message and advise that we will be called back within one business day. Seriously what is the point!

My partner and i are now in the market to buy a house and stay well clear away any listings by Pennisi.

After a pretty disasterous former relationship with a property manager, we have been nothing short of amazed at how professional Pennisi are as the property managers of the property we are currently leasing.
