I'm surprised at the poor reviews on Pennytel. I have been using Pennytel as my VOIP for about 4 years now and my phone bills havebeen slashed. I have emailed or rung 777 a few times (for instance when I needed help reinstalling on a new computer, etc.) and have had very good and friendly service. Only problem is that my autocharge doesn't seem to work automatically. I have to go in manually to pay each time - that's a bit frustrating, but a small price to pay for the savings I'm making.

Pennytel is the provider for our children's mobile phones and we have found them to be disorganized with set up of SIMS and billing. Would not recommend them.

NOT AT ALL user friendly, impossible to contact customer service, quality of connection is bad.
VERY dissapointed and regreted my decision to try. Feel like being robbed. Would recommend anyone NOT to try. Steps to start wasn't very clear, when I got my SIMcard coulnd't use it directly, then hard to get help that I got charged for another month without even using it yet. When I decided to cancel they act very promptly charging me $20 and forfeiting all remaining credits!! Before I got to cancel, they auto-recharged me for another $20 saying I've less than $20 in my account while I still had $20.18!! Notification to auto-recharge came less than half a day before they charge so I didn't have time to act!! Will never ever want to have anything to do with them again, EVER!!!!

My advice: if you are expecting traditional telecom reliability, user friendliness and support, absent of technical know-how (or ability to learn) on your side, forget Pennytel. For everyone else, these guys rock. The most innovative services and options, the best prices bar none.

At first, we have used Engin VoIP service before we changed it over to Pennytel. Pennytel VoIP has more better deals when it comes to overseas calls rate except some Asian countries that we are waiting for hopefully. The only issue we had is their customer service chat on-line, which takes a long time sometime before they reply so you have to wait for a while and grab your cuppa.

It is almost impossible to contact this company, and when you finally do they seem unable or unwilling to deal with your problems. I ordered a phone from them online, and some weeks later I still had not received it (They eventually told me it was out of stock, so why advertise it if you don't have it?). It took months to receive a refund.
