Adorable little cafe in a convenient location. The lunch menu is succinct but has a few options for any tastes. Unexpectedly great decor but it is a little cold due to the industrial-chic vibe.
Approximate cost: $20
walked in hangry and in a bad mood. greeted by a warm smile and friendly service. food was quick out and hit the spot so did the coffee. walked out in a great mood and satisfied.
Approximate cost: $7
great, specially after the recent menu upgrade with more a la carte and Chef special items, with new renovation looks Chic and homely.
if you are looking for a cafe experience in Glen Huntly and Ormond Area, need to pay this one a visit :).
I get my coffee from here most mornings, and enjoy it every single time! Food is great, and staff are very friendly!
We went there when it first opened. The coffee is fairly decent and the food was ok. The decor is really lovely (industrial chic) and not what you'd expect in that area.
Are you sure that you've reviewed the right place? I'm a regular customer of this business and I certainly wouldn't describe the decor as "industrial chic" (they have multicoloured wall stickers, big colourful prints, etc - industrial chic implies that the place has exposed beams, steel, a cold atmosphere, etc)
Food was OK but they lose a lot of business with the eat in fee. I certainly won't be going there again in a hurry.
Great little cafe / bakery in Ormond. Love the chicken and mushroom pie here! Don't think they're made in house, but you can always ask them to heat it up for you. I also recommend trying the spinach and ricotta roles, the sausage rolls and the tandoori chicken focaccia. I think the tandoori chicken is made in-house, and its cooked perfectly every single time. I've noticed that since changing management, the tandoori chicken has been sliced. Beforehand, they had big chunks of chicken in the focaccia. Both a still tasty though... I definitely recommend having it toasted, with the sweet fruit chutney sauce - compliments the tandoori very well.
They also have a variety of mini cake slices here. I thought the chocolate hedgehog and the double choc fudge slices were very tasty, but I felt the lemon slice was a bit hard, as if it's been left there for a while.
Prices are O.K - pie & cake prices are a bit on the high side, but I would still recommend this cafe to others. Staff are very friendly and the service is generally very good; sometimes it takes a bit of time for them to prepare the focaccia, but it's well worth the wait.
First of all, their policy of charging $1 sit down fee is silly. On top of that I had a "gourmet" pie there and it had a hair in it. Not overly happy with the prices either. Must say though the food is reasonable, just let down by a few things.
Great coffee and delicious focaccias! The service is friendly too. Not too keen on the eat in fee, but overall the food is great and the guys are friendly too :)
I came back from my Christmas break to find that the Bakery at Copper Cafe had changed hands and re-opened as the Platform One Bakery Cafe. The cafe has been renovated so now it feels much roomier and has a much better layout with the coffee machine right up the front.
There have definitely been some very positive changes to the cafe, such as a new breakfast and lunch menu, the sandwiches, wraps and rolls are now freshly made to order and there is a shiny new coffee machine! They still make the same delicious artisan breads and have a lot of yummy looking cakes and pies (which also look a lot fresher and tastier than before!)
Some of the old staff from Copper Cafe still work there, which is great because they are really friendly and a make terrific coffee. I've found that the newer staff don't make coffee as well, but I'm sure they'll get the hang of it eventually. I don't think that the prices have changed either, which is positive too.
New name, still a great place to visit!
