Daylight robbery!
Natalie at RAC Joondalup Service Centre quoted me $829 for a replacement starter motor - not even a genuine VW part but an aftermarket part. I got the part number of them and ended up buying the exact part for $160 and got them to fit it - saving myself $670. My first experience with home and the last!
0/10, protection plate under sump, bolt left undone. Wheel nuts over tightened to the point of stretching the rims mounting holes, blistering paint off the rims, around the holes. Sump plug reinstalled that tight, 19mm ring spanner, stripped. 18mm ring spanner, stripped. Vice grips, stripped. Now required to have the plug drilled out.
