Terrible customer service& my apartment took almost 3 years to build. This affected my life hugely, I really struggled to get a loan because obviously circumstances change in 3 years. Never once got an apology even though i explained numerous times over the build period how disappointed I was & the ways it affected me. So many emails just never got replied too. Completion date pushed back more times then I can count. Once it was finally done they didn’t even clean it, you can imagine how much dust had built up over the few years, they did get the cleaner in straight after I called to complain & he said they must have missed mine. But my neighbour said hers was left the same. There was food left in the cupboard that the tradies had been eating. And to finish off this lovely experience- the quality is terrible. My brother who is a tradie came through with me when I got the keys and was shocked. It’s almost like the construction manager didn’t even go through and tick things off. What was supposed to be the most exciting time of my life just turned out to be the most disappointing experience and I wish I never purchased it.

I perchased a property from edge real estate agents in Salisbury. I did not view the property before hand, I noticed cracks on the outside of the building. I have quotes that day rivergum homes and Herriot consultants did not build the property propaly, now it will cost $6000 for a lawyer, do not agree with any thing these companies say as they will rip you off from the start. Now I am stuck with a lemon home.

Approximate cost: $260

I wouldn't recommend this business. I have had a house purchase that has taken five years from contract signing and still the process is incomplete. The house has been sitting on my country block incomplete for two years, while Rivergum has, slowly made attempts to fix glaring shortcomings, and consistently avoided their responsibilities. The company failed to present the home to acceptable building standards and denied commitments given by previous managers. Despite promises that the home would be presented to show home quality build standards, the house was offered without waste water plumbing to the exterior wall of the property and without a visible water connection point to the exterior. After three years of wrangling and argument these were provided as originally promised. Disturbingly when the water supply was connected, a serious leak was revealed and water cascaded along a 1.5 metre waterfall from the ceiling cavity down the exterior wall of the house. Attempting to check the source of the leak, I climbed a ladder only to find gutters tingling, due to water leakage infiltrating electricity wiring somewhere in the roof cavity. Despite repeated requests a plumbing compliance certificate has not been provided which is the right of any home owner and in contravention of SAFE WORK legislated requirements.
Roofing sheets overhang each other in a zigzag formation into gutters and in several spots are so misaligned that it is virtually impossible to clean gutters for fire prevention purposes.
Rivergum Homes informed me that they had rectified this and when I attended I found roofing sheets that had been carelessly cut with tin snips and still hanging too far into the guttering. Sharp pieces of spear like barbs protruded out from the sheets of roofing iron making the task of gutter cleaning incredibly dangerous.
Wet area flooring areas do not run down wards to the floor drain traps in any room and in the laundry after a leak from a plumbing fixture it was found that the flooding water ran towards the exterior door/wall.
Site works levelled the site by digging down too low and removing excessive amounts of top soil making it impossible to run storm water away without installing a sump pump system.
There have been so many on going problems around this purchase and a belligerent company that is more concerned about high volume sales rather fixing its appalling business culture and being committed to customers. Two years of lost rental income and two years of extra rates and taxes that cannot be recouped has been the reality and it appears that I will have to accept the shoddy work practices if I ever wish to receive the keys to my house which is 95% paid for.
Absolutely appalling building experience.
I have a portfolio of photographs to share with any media organisation or person who may be interested in verifying my claims.

We built with a Rivergum Homes in late 2016. Our home consultant was a ‘yes man’. Once we signed all the yes’s turned to no’s. The drama’s that then ensued where endless. Wiring and plumbing not up to code, and inflated costs on extras. 4 years later I still resent the house we call home. The Gutter Guard that was supplied went in the scrap a year later as it attracted the leaves! The gutters fall the wrong way and water hangs in them. That’ll be next years project. Never again will we build, and certainly not with Rivergum!

Approximate cost: $250000

I despise Rivergum as well as they ruined my one and only chance of building a home and and left me with such a mess that I too still resent the house we have to call a home.
Mine was built in 2012 with epic mistakes and incompetent work. I feel it is if they knew who they could target and do this to as they are others who rave about their work.
They were great at eluding my requests and complaints for 5 years after which their warranty ended. They financially ruined me and I have only one year left to take to court before that window closes.
I am so sorry this happened to you as well. I hope this gives you at least 0.1% comfort knowing that they screwed someone else.

I signed my contract 2 years ago and the slab only just laid. Worst building company Ive ever dealt with. Empty promises, no communication. They are bottom of the barrel for builders as far as Im concerned.

Don't build with rivergum. Took my deposit , promised they could do my build then changed the cost and dates 3 times
don't care about their customers unless you have lots of millions
They promies you anything to get your money then F you over .
They stuffed up so bad they refunded my deposit ..now I'm left with no build
Worst customer care ever.
I should of listened to the real reviews online that warned me .

We thought we a very smooth planning to construction process with no major delays or hiccups.... so we thought. Four years on and we are still chasing Rivergum to fix multiple leaks on our upper floor and window sills that reoccur every winter and now a roof that is aleady showing signs of rust. They've come out multiple times to 'fix' these leaks by siliconing over what they think might be causing the issue but it keeps on occurring and now we can smell mould and our carpet is ruined and it's causing us nothing but stress. Poor quality, take no responsibility or genuinely try to fix things, it's not worth the stress, do not build with them. We aren't the only ones who've had similar issues with the build and with them actually fixing their mistakes.

Approximate cost: $245000
