Fantastic pub just before the Sydney CBD to grab a beer and sit in the sunshine. The meals are well priced but not my favourite, I come for the large, open décor and the friendly staff
With a new chef & new bar staff, this is a great place for a quiet weekend lunch. If you want noise, come in the evening to enjoy the bands.
The hotel is across the road from the Goodyear Tyres in Rozelle, on the westbound side, between Gordon and Evans Streets. East bound, look for the Sydney Community College building.
Although the new chef has the menu under review, the meals are well priced and certainly worth it. We had about 4 hours there watching the meals come out (as well as immensely enjoying ours) and checking the prices. To borrow a phrase from Molly, “Do yourself a favour….†One of the deals sites currently has some coupons going for there, but even without that the prices are quite reasonable for what you get.
The westbound M50 bus stops out the front. If you are coming from or heading to Parramatta, the M52 is the one you want. From Parra it stops across the road, to Parra head up the hill to the next bus stop – just before Darling St.
Approximate cost: $20
I used to come here for a cheap, quick and easy meal to catch up with a few friends.
It can get pretty busy here, but you can always find a seat somewhere.
One of my favourite things to get here is the prawn linguini which is about $15. The drinks are fairly priced too.
It's quite nice inside and they have a play area for the kids too.
I've never had a problem with the service here. Everyone has always been really nice and provide service with a smile!
The Ruby has very good food! The $10-$15 lunches are a cheap and filling alternative to the other take away joints around. Drinks are reasonably priced. There is sometimes a massive line at the bar with people ordering food and drinks. Their ATM is often out of service too.
Ruby L'otel has been beautifully refurbished from the old local it was. the menu was loaded with asian inspired dishes and banquet options also, but very limited in it's lunch time "pub grub" dishes. there were 8 or 9 options reduced to $10 lunch time deals and were very generous sizes, however the drinks were a little on the pricey side ($10 for a glass of Merlot). Service could have been a little more friendly from all the staff
Approximate cost: $10
This restaurant probably shouldn't be classified as a Chinese restaurant because the decor and the head chef are not Chinese. However, their food is good and almost alike to yum cha in Hong Kong.
