In the past i would have given this place a decent review. But my experience today was terrible. Me and my wife went in to buy some meat and we explained to the person, that we wanted it to be cut into smaller pieces. The sales person agreed, but then all of a sudden the man behind who was cutting meat took off in Chinese language, abusing us for no reason, Fortunately we had not yet paid and we walked out never to step into this place again.

Approximate cost: $40

Yesterday I was very unhappy with two staffs who were selling vegetables at front of shop in Sakura Supermarket Eastswood 八佰伴。I usually used the clear food safety bags for fruits and vegetables in supermarkets. But yesterday they shouted at me asking to use the unclear big bags which are not food safety to contain vegetables. They said it can save bags. I told them those unclear bags are not for containing fruits and vegetables directly. The clear one is food safety, but they kept shouting at me. It is not okay to force customers to use food unsafe bags to contain fruit and vegetables. It is not good for some long trip customers who might keep their bags of food inside the car for hours. With hot weather, those bags will release chemicals or toxic to fruit and vegetables which might change body cells and hormones. If the shop really want to save environment, they can provide paper bags, or just provide clear food safe bags and let customers to use their own recycle bags in checkout like in Coles or Woolworth. But not to force customers to use toxic bags. I was also very disappointed by their impolite language.

Sakura supermarket is a great place to shop if you want to get all your groceries in the one place. They have a huge variety of fruit and veg and a deli as well as a frozen section and a wide variety of packaged food. However Ive found prices to be a bit high when it comes to fruit and frozen products.

This is one of may Asian supermarkets in Eastwood and this is quite a big one.

They offer lots of different products from cold section to dried and canned food, lots of different confectionery and snacks from Asian countries. Whatever I need from Asian grocery store, they usually have them. Don't have any complains.

One thing I noticed, they also stock fresh durian in the cold section. Durian is something you either love or hate, if you love them and sick of the frozen durian.... this supermarket stocks FRESH durian with about 4-5 small seeds durian in a plastic clear box products of Malaysia. This small box costs about $13 but it is really good and fresh, doesn't have that frozen taste to it. Look out for it in cold fridge section if you love durian :)

My family and I buy our groceries from Sakura Supermarket in Eastwood. They have stock for everything ranging from deli meat, vegetables, herbs, cooking items, rice, Chinese groceries, household items etc. The shop is quite huge and we usually park our car at the Eastwood Arcade which is directly opposite to Sakura Supermarket. They always have free test-tasting at the shop front for dumplings as promotion so you can try before you buy. We buy almost all of our cooking items and groceries there, even meat from the deli as well as they are fresh and the prices are quite reasonable and competitive. They gave us a 10% discount card last time when we shopped over $60 in a go, so we have been using the 10% discount from then on (discount only applies to items that are not on special). They take credit card too which is very convenient for shoppers.
