This place does all the right things service-wise.. drinks offered, they seem to listen to what you're after, iPad while you're waiting (which was pretty cool!).. But the job the do on the hair itself is pretty sub par for the exuberant price you place. I've been there for a hair cut and a hair perm ($400+!) and both were pretty disappointing. The perm was a huge fail (overdone in some places, totally flat in others), and when I went back they told me it was an issue with the way I was styling it. Not something you want to hear. So quite a disappointment.

Totally agree. All they know is blaming customers for their mistake.

An asian hairdressing salon, that is somewhat over decorated and fancy, almost to the point of being vulgar.
Prices are alright, but that is reflected in the quality of the hairdressing service.
If you ask for a popular style (that the staff do 90% of the time) then that is fine....
don't try asking for something unique or individual though, they will not understand you, and don't even bother with directions on how you want your hair cut - they are not sufficiently trained.... and will not be able to follow....

you were right. i totally agreed with you.
never ask for something unique.

Hi Rosep1, from what you have described, this place sounds worthy of avoidance, especially if you are particular with your hair, like most of us. The language barrier would be enough of an incentive for many to avoid such a business. Despite having several Asian friends (and acquaintances), many have a tendency to â??pretendâ?? that they understand your request, when they clearly do not. This is a dangerous situation for anyone to be in, especially a business setting. Thanks for the notification. Reeces

Excellent value for money and very nice staff. I have only been there once, but shall return as it is a good alternative to just about every other trendy hair dressers in town that are always overpriced.

I needed to get my hair trimmed, and slightly altered. I'd recently had it cut into a bob, but it was a bit long (a few cm above my shoulders) and the shape was a bit dull -- I was after a concave style.

The salon itself really quite pretty -- roomy, stylishly furnished. There's a giant bonsai-esque tree right in the middle of the salon, with fairy lights and a little faux-birdcage hanging from it. That was a little mesmerising. :)

So I came in asking how much they would charge if I just wanted the back of my hair to be trimmed (so that I could have the concave style). The lady seemed a bit confused at first, because I don't think she quite understood what I wanted (it seemed that they had difficulty with a few English phrases). In the end she told me it would cost about $40 (!!) and that it would take around 30 minutes (I was in a rush).

So she directed me to my hairdresser, Eun Mi, who seemed very lovely. She washed my hair and gave me a brief scalp massage ('twas GREAT), then popped me into the chair. After explaining to her what I wanted, she nodded and started to cut away. It didn't take all that long, and during that time she was quite lovely to chat to - so sweet. :)

She informed me that I had quite fine hair and asked if I experienced breakage. After I said yes, she gave me some hints on how to maintain my hair, how to use volumising sprays and proper shampoo (without advertising any of their own products). She was very helpful.

She then started blow-drying my hair, and styling it. She even put in some serum (for my dry scalp) and spray (for volume).

In the end, it took an accurate 30 minutes. I was charged either $50 altogether for a wash+cut+blowdry. While I was a bit bothered that they didn't ask me if I wanted a wash or a blowdry in the first place, another $10 wasn't much. I think it was the original $40 for the trim that bothered me.

However, I would go back! And plan to. I just wish they were cheaper, as I'm quite a poor uni student!

Approximate cost: $~$50, for wash+cut+blowdry

crap, worst service every expereinced in a salon.

Hi Ravenskar, Unfortunately (due to the improper training) many hairdressers are incapable of cutting a straight line and therefore styles (like a genuine â??bobâ??) are too difficult for them to achieve with excellence. This is why many will try their hardest to convince you to have your hair tapered/layered, which allows them a greater opportunity to disguise their less than optimum training. As for the décor, the tree (complete with fairy lights and bird cage) sounds like an impressive touch. As for the service received, your hairdresser sounds very nice. Having said this, ALL hairdressers should be upfront about their respective costs. Thanks for the heads-up! Reeces
