Interesting warehouse fitout. This place continues to make great coffee. For coffee lovers, they offer cold drips and pourovers in addition to your standard lattes etc.
The menu has recently undergone a change, and there is now more variety beyond sandwiches/bread based food items; a salad or soup option is usually available on the menu.
Approximate cost: $13
This is an excellent, arty cafe to enjoy brunch in, though it's so popular that it can be hard to get a seat sometimes.
The coffees are outstanding: fresh and aromatic. The cafe prides itself on trying unusual coffee beans from different areas around the world. The last time we were in, we tried Kiangai beans from Kenya. The coffee made from these beans was served chilled in a little glass tube and the scent as you bent down to sample it was fascinating: blackcurrent and herbal notes featured strongly to my nose.
The meals themselves have improved over the past few months. The last time I visited this establishment I enjoyed a breaky roll with homemade hollandaise sauce & relish, tasty bacon, and egg - this meal alone would be worth coming back for.
Other standout dishes: tender ham hocks with homemade mustard sauce and salad; Oriental-inspired scrambled eggs on roti, garnished with bean shoots, chilli and miso soy sauce. The latter was so tasty that I wished I had two stomachs so I could eat it again.
Before we left, my husband bought one of the black, limited edition Seven Seeds t-shirts that were featured behind the counter. The staff were very helpful, spending several minutes checking out the back for his exact size.
We will be back here again for sure.
Approximate cost: $15
If you like exotic coffees. This place has a good variety.
Not recommended food otherwise. Unless if you love sandwiches, there is not much else.
Approximate cost: $3.50
Love this little cafe. I used to pop in when I was visiting my husband while he was studying at uni. He used to swear by the coffees and sometimes makes a special drive in from the Dandenongs just for them. I love the chai. Great service.
If you ever feel like a coffee/hot chocolate around Melbourne University this is the definite must go place
best hot chocolate ever
Consistently good coffee. The staff are really friendly and have a good rapport with customers.
Definitely "THE" place to go for coffee in the area around the Melbourne Law School and southern side of Melbourne University.
(every other place closeby is owned by the Brunetti Group)
The place is a converted warehouse. Atmosphere is great. Slightly pricey, but so is every other cafe in this area.
Approximate cost: $4
Great space. Similar to St Ali (early days).
The coffee is consistently excellent and the menu is simple but well done.
You can park your push bike inside, if you want to cycle there.
There are plenty of skinny, bearded guys and body art to confirm its hipness. If you don't mind that, then this is a hidden little gem.
Highly recommended.
