Couldn't live in the area without this place! The owners, Ross and Karla, are beautiful, friendly people, as are there daughters who often serve in the store. Amazing bread, coffee, breakfasts, and Gully burgers! Love the vibe, whether sitting inside or out. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

It's my local store so I drop by often, having breakfast or coffee now and then. Hard to find space at a table on weekends these days because it's become popular with cyclists - who add to the ambience. Great coffee, fine muffins, crisp chips and the best cheese bread you can ever taste - strap a loaf on your saddle.
And Ross, Karla, their daughters and staff give fine and friendly service.

I have called in here after many mountain bike and road rides. The setting is rustic and the owners are friendly. Ross is a keen mountain biker himself. A selection of bakery treats and bread is baked on the premises and they cook up some basic, but very tasty breakfast/brunch meals. It's hard to go past their toasted egg and bacon sandwich, with relish and cheese. Mmmmmm. The coffee is ALWAYS good.

This place might not have that 'wow' factor but if you've pedalled out from the suburbs, ridden up to Kinglake, had an exhilarating descent to St Andrews and then made it up the seemingly unnecessary hill to the store, it feels like a 5 star. Stopping here is pure animal magnetism, you might resist on the first pass but never on the way home. The owners are very friendly and have come to realise that cyclists are reliable consumers of muffins, which they cook on the premises, and coffee which tastes pretty good by then. Then there are all the things that you would expect to find in a country store. They have a few tables on a narrow verandah and toilets around the back where you can fill water bottles (from the handbasin.......) or they are happy to fill bottles in the shop. This is very much a local country store so most people are coming in to pick up the paper or milk and bread and you can often tune in to some local gossip as a bonus. But beware, it is easy to while away time when you know the ride is more than halfway over and the passing traffic can keep you entertained but it's best not to sit for too long if tackling the Kangaroo Ground undulations afterwards.

Approximate cost: $~$ each for coffee and mu
