Lively restaurant right in the heart of it all, right on Salamanca square, hard to miss & easy to find. Only visited for dessert but the options were vast & the staff were friendly

We had high expectations of Smolt, having heard great reviews and with a delicious sounding menu. Unfortunately they just didn't live up to these expectations the night we were there. The pickled veg we had to taste were yummy, and the wine list was good, but our main course let the whole evening down. We ordered the duck and the fish of the day, which both sounded great. They both came with a tomato based sauce which was so oversalted it was impossible to fully enjoy the well cooked protein or the carefully thought out accompanying components. It was a lovely restaurant and I'd love to go back and try some of their other dishes, I wouldn't be surprised if we just got an off night. Unfortunately a seemingly simple mistake cost the rest of the dish, and neither of us had the courage to bring it up with the staff. On another note however, great location!

The best Patas Bravas I ever had. Soooo good! This place is always packed so make sure you book. Service was very slow and a bit off hand but still I would go again.

Approximate cost: $15.00

Agree with earlier review that Smolt was the best dining experience during my visit to Hobart. Tasting platter with pork cheek croquette, beetroot carpaccio, salami and parmesan and pork rilletes was fantastic and full of flavour. Great way to start the meal! The lamb leg was beautifully cooked and makes me hungry just thinking about it!

Approximate cost: $40.00

While visiting Hobart, Smolt had to be the best dining experience. Place was comfortable and service friendly. I had a duck salad that was divine. It had so many layers so the dish was bursting with flavour. The beetroot sauce, pear and greens also gave the meal texture. Not sure if this is a regular on their menu, but I would want to go back to Hobart for just this dish! We also had croquettes, which were nice and crunchy. The salmon was also good, not dried out like other places and you get really large portions. Well priced considered the amount of food you get.

Approximate cost: $25-$30

Such a lovely dining experience, right in the heart of salamanca smolt has a great menu with a wide selection to choose form, they also have a lovely selections of cakes incase you just want to stop by for coffee and cake, great location and prices are reasonable too. Smolt offers iltalian and spanish types influenced food, which is really all yummy! They have good pizzas aswell, its a fairly new place too only having opened recently.
