Sokyo caters to families, couples, vegeterians etc. It has a fully equipted bar and wifi. It is japanese. The Queensland sushi rolls were to die for - such soft crab meat, a spicy aoili sauce, and avocado, approx $20. Nicely presented, quality food.

Really disappointed dining here for breakfast after reading the reviews and having visitor from London. The disappointment and disgust stemmed mostly from respect to the service or notable lack thereof. Rude and lacking empathy as I had my mobility-challenged elderly mother with my family and requested an appropriate seating. Which was not considered with any customer dignity so the first impression was already set very low. Then the food was served inconsistently. Of the six diners in our party, half were very pleased with their food served while the other half waited longer for their food to be served and it was very salty and unpalatable. We will not be returning. One of my sisters is a frequent diner at Sokyo (and has left wonderful feedback attesting to her past experiences) but she was so disappointed that she won't be back. She said the standard had dropped noticeably with the change in management.

Approximate cost: $148

I'm not a big fan of japanese food and havent tried many japanese restaurants but I must say that I really enjoyed the food at sokyo despite the high tag you would have to pay. Great staff (you would expect this from the japanese people) and great variety. Loved the sushi and sashimi plate

Absolutely beautiful food--perhaps the best Japanese I've found so far in Sydney. The flavours, presentation, and quality of the food are simply exceptional, and the value is great for what it is.

Unfortunately, my only qualm is with the atmosphere of the restaurant--the music was rather loud, which meant the diners all had to raise their voices to be heard, which then exacerbates the problem. As the evening progressed, the restaurant started to resemble a rowdy eatery, which was a huge shame as I thought the food to be outstanding!

Similar to the reviews below, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Sokyo. Staff were very warm and friendly and gave recommendations on best dishes. The food was delicious in particular the sashimi. I was too full for dessert, and for 2 people I spent roughly $100. If you have an Absolute Rewards card you will receive a minimum 10% off.

Just two of us, we shared 3 entrees, Kurobuta Black Pork Sashimi was absolutely beautiful, and our 2 mains, Kobe Cuisine Wagyu Tenderloin & DengakuMan are beyond my ability to describe how good they were. It was all so fresh and with the most amazing flavours.
The whole experience was simply outstanding, made even better by a very knowledgeable and impressive waiter. We look forward to repeating this experience.

I really enjoy the food at sokyo, and the most recommend food is the kingfish for the starter, I am not a fish lover but I do recommend this amazing food which better than I expected. And Chef's selection of desserts is good as well.

Approximate cost: $55

This is up there with Sushi-e and Sake. My friend and I dined at the bar where the chefs prepare the sashimi right in front of you.
The food is old school Japanese with a modern twist. The ROBATA Wagyu was delicious and the Tai Ceviche is a must. For desert we ordered the chefs sampler - which is 4 mini desserts... for 2 people we spent $230 for dinner which included 2 glasses of wine each.
