Probably my favourite place to eat in Melbourne. Have never had a meal there that wasn't really special. Staff are lovely too - puzzled by the bad review! Not cheap but the quality and experience are excellent.

Approximate cost: $20.00

I'm a regular at this Italian little treasure. Food is exquisite, service attentive but not in your face and overall ambience makes me feel like I'm in some back street of Florence!

We came here on Friday night for dessert after an excellent dinner at a Thai restaurant (that's another review). We were plonked down at an unset table after it was established we were only after dessert. We both ordered the Bombolini ripieni (3 hot cinnamon sugared donuts filled with vanilla pastry cream and accompanied by melted milk Lindt chocolate) and 2 hot chocolates. The hot "chocolates" were no more than very average tasting cocoa poured into glasses which we couldn't pick up because they hadn't bothered placing a serviette around them. Very disappointing, and at $5 each we were scratching our heads how an Italian restaurant could be so slack using something we can buy in a box at the supermarket.

When the waitress eventually came to set our table she placed the fork and spoon in different positions (at a pricey Italian restaurant the cutlery setting should actually matter and be correctly set) for each of us, sans serviettes. I've had better care taken with table settings at a burger joint.

When the waitress delivered our desserts we had to ask for serviettes and she responded with, "yeah, when I brought the cutlery I knew I had to bring the serviettes but I forgot". The desserts came with melted Lindt chocolate. I tasted the Bombolini without the chocolate sauce and could just make out the taste of the cinnamon they're supposed to be dipped in and the so-subtle-you-could-miss-it flavour of the vanilla cream filling. The dough was, well, doughy.

Overall we had the distinct impression that you're not valued as a customer if you only come for dessert (2 desserts & 2 hot chocolates was $38). This restaurant needs to improve its service and treat each customer the same. After all, we only came for dessert this time but had intended to return for dinner at another date. Needless to say they didn't get their desserts right and didn't make us feel welcome, so we won't be returning. The irony is that the owner was sitting at the table behind us, so clearly below par service for one course customers is acceptable. There are plenty of other Italian restaurants around.

Funny, I have had that very same dessert a number of times and it's worth every penny! Delicious!!! I'm local to Sosta and often venture down for a dessert/hot drink/night cap and made to feel extrememly welcome.. Quite surprised by your experience, you should really give it another go, the food really is something special.

Went to dinner with a couple of friends, the food was excellent, service was okay, on what appeared to be a very busy night, would certainly head back there.

Approximate cost: $25

This is a new Italian place on Errol Street, the food is wonderful and the service very professional. The only problem was the noise - conversation was difficult.

Approximate cost: $25.00
