1 review about Stones Restaurants

I took my partner for dinner to Stones Restaurant. I wouldn't have thought of going there if I hadn't noticed a special on deals website. It included entree and mains for two people...plus it sound promising for new experience of cooking your meat portion on hot stone.
They reserved an indoor table for just two of us. Lady at the front was very apologetic that she hadn't noticed me earlier (at the time she was billing a guest who was leaving me) which was very nice. When we were seated, we were explained what dishes the special deal included...choice from garlic bread or field mushroom tapas was pretty clear. Then they were offering chicken breast, steak with prawns or barramundi that you would be grilling on hot stone placed in front of you...served with a portion of garden salad and chips.

It was very interesting experience for the special price (54% discount) definitely worthwhile. When I checked the regular menu prices, my jaw dropped so it hit the bench. They are even higher than what restaurants in pretentious location of James Street charge. When you put in the consideration you get a raw piece of meat to cook yourself and a small portion of salad & chips, this dinning experience is simply overpriced.

Service was absolutely brilliant, though. Waitresses were very polite, smiling, apologetic and helpful while we were grilling meats...yet, how much more are you willing to pay for excellent service and sort of average food(?)

On our way out of the restaurant, one of their waitress said they would have liked to see us again. Well, they would see us again if their prices were more down to earth. I do not think we will be ever going back there. I would recommend them for a different dinning, however, it was not that great for full pricing...

Approximate cost: $25-45

I've seen a few deals for this restaurant and wondered if it was worth giving it a try as it sounded interesting, I will definitely wait for another deal to come along though before going, thanks for the review :)

Sounds like a great concept but as you said they're eliminating the need for a chef so I couldn't see the price justification either. Thanks for an excellent review.

Thank you for the comments. I have put a bit more thoughts into the concept...I believe the business owner must be charging higher prices for meals due to insurance...They surely must be extra insured in cases customers cause themselves injury while cooking meats.
