I’ve been having weekly Shiatsu sessions with Gerald for 1 year. I trust my feedback will be helpful based on repeated experience over a long period of time.

Something important in any service provider, any health practitioner for that matter, is character. Do they listen to me? Do I feel safe with them? Do they care?

Gerald has always been laid back and zen, but I’ve realised over time, he is extremely quick and attentive. He definitely listens. Because Shiatsu is ultimately a touch based therapy, I need to know that I feel safe with the procedure itself. I can honestly say, I feel safe with Gerald’s skill and professional approach. Overall, I’ve always felt genuinely cared for by Gerald, but recently, this point was highlighted with changes and new things being offered. Gerald has recently offered cushioned prop ups for each session, as well as infrared therapy to accompany Shiatsu. This tells me this practitioner is interested in constantly improving his practice, and ultimately, holding the comfort and experience of his clients as top priority.

Another equally important criteria when choosing a practitioner is: are they any good? This is a loaded question as it depends on your experience and specific health condition. I have worked with my hands for over a decade as an Acupuncturist, so I believe I can weigh in on this answer. Simply put: Gerald is skilled at what he does. And you can’t pick up that sort of skill by watching Youtube videos. Gerald has the ability to touch and adapt his treatment approach in the moment, and that is a rare skill indeed.

As someone who also works in the health industry, I know enough to be terribly picky about who treats me. I feel blessed to have found Gerald, and will continue my weekly Shiatsu sessions with him into the future.
