EAST MELBOURNE’S FIRST JAPANESE BBQ OPENS IN BOX HILL
Teru Teru Japanese BBQ Restaurant is the first to feature the traditional ‘smokeless’ BBQ outside Melbourne’s CBD, serving award winning Wagyu beef, Kurobuta pork and other Japanese delicacies. Teru Teru first opened in Box Hill in 2009 as a cafe offering a selection of Japanese dishes and teas.
After an extensive renovation it re-opened in March this year as a Japanese BBQ, featuring ‘smokeless’ BBQs built and imported from Japan. Each table in the restaurant features a grill where customers can grill their own food, with an extraction system ensuring that no smoke fills the room and, at the same time, the BBQ’s coals are kept alight.
On the menu is Australia’s finest Wagyu beef supplied Blackmore Wagyu Beef, a family owned business that has pioneered the production of 100 percent full blood Wagyu beef in Australia more than 20 years ago. Blackmore Wagyu Beef has been described by Japanese chefs as old fashioned due to its marbling and flavour. Teru Teru’s main offering is a set menu featuring Wagyu beef, Kurobuta pork, ox tongue and vegetables that customers can order as many dishes of.
The menu also features Kushiage - deep fried skewers - and other Japanese dishes that can be ordered individually. To celebrate the re-opening of Teru Teru and give customers the opportunity to try different dishes from the menu, an ‘All You Can Eat’ promotion is running.
