My experience at this restaurant was great. The service is attentive, informal but respectful and dignified. The menu offers a good selection of options. Diners on our table chose the Charcuterie (between 2), Mushroom soup with truffle and the Pickled Octopus. Every entree was delicious, generous and marvellous. The Charcuterie overflowed with salami, ham, pecorino cheese and housemade duck/port terrine, the mushroom soup had very generous lashings of truffle and the octopus was plentiful and tasty. For mains, we selected the Duck/Rocket/Grapefruit salad, Filet of Lamb, Scallop Risotto and Duck Breast - again, everything was generously portioned and delicious. The only snag was that our wine selection was not available, so we had to choose another. Points to note though, on arrival, the restaurant seems small as the tables start right at the entrance to the restaurant. I would not be happy seated at one of those. We were ushered to a table outside on the deck, which was lovely as it was a beautiful balmy evening. The deck is completely open and the view of the city skyline was magnificent. However, we weren't given an option of being seated out here, so I am not sure what happens if diners prefer not to, or if the weather turns bad during an evening. Also, the view is magnificent so make sure your visitors to Melbourne are seated to get the best view of it from their outdoor table. A really nice evening.

My partner and I have been here numerous time now, The owner knows us by name! We love the speedy service and the over all attention to detail. We had a side dish not come out on time when we had dinner there once, so to make up for it they gave it to us for free! The friendly atmosphere and scenic views add to the experience. An overall great place, great food, great wine, great views and great service!

What I love about this place is that they are innovative with dishes and experiment with different combination, which will pleasantly surprise. It is great to go out and experience something different from the 'generic' dishes most European restaurants seem to go for. However the price is steep, so maybe don't offer to bring your friends along, unless you are generous.

My wife and I sometimes go here on the weekend for lunch. I like the setting - upstairs on the river opposite Flinders Street Station. Great food and wines. They have a 29.95 lunch special menu that includes 2 courses and a glass of wine. Great value for a very good quality restaurant. I don't know if the special is available every day, or just on Saturdays and/or Sundays.

Approximate cost: $25
