I really like this little deli - when I'm walking past I'll often drop in for a coffee or roll. great quality.

Having lived in Caulfield for a few years I was spoilt for choice whenever I had a craving for bagels.
So when I moved house I was ecstatic to find that I'd be able to continue my weekend bagel runs, and for the first time ever I could buy them on a Saturday!
I've yet to try anything else in the store (other than the vegie burger patties that my Grandma used to buy me when I was a teen), but I keep eyeing off the portuguese tarts and the deli case.

This is one of my favourite places when I go to Balwyn, great food, great variety. New owners just taken over and they will take this place to the next level. Do yourself a favour and try the Doolan Country Beetroot & Wild blueberry Chutney if you can get any!! onto our third jar, yummy.

Spinach dip and Greek salad! Spinach dip and Greek Salad! Spinach dip and Greek salad! Aparently I was screaming these out in my sleep the other night...
The Egg BAsket Deli can be easy to miss as you zoom along behind a tram like a snail with a heart condition down Whitehorse Road in Balwyn. But, it is there. Tucked away. Not glamorous, but who needs that when the food and service are so good? A large range of breads, and real bagels...not just rolls with a hole in them...as well as dips, olives, meats, salads, mouth watering desserts, coffee and lots of other temptations to keep your tastebuds occupied.
They even have a roast and a few other things that you can take away for lunch, or if you are lucky, you can sit at one of their few cafe tables.
The staff and owners are lovely and ready to help.
It is the real thing in a neighbourhood of often try hard cafes.

Approximate cost: $varies
