Back in the day this place was a little rough. But within the last few years it's had a major face-lift and is now a gorgeous, modern and cosy venue. There's plenty of places to sit and eat, fairy lights everywhere and a huge dance floor downstairs with great DJ's and a huge screen to show all the major sporting events. You've got spacious function rooms, a classic Irish pub out the back, a sports bar with pool tables - everything in one place!
The food is always hearty, with large portions. Can be a little overpriced and a bit hit and miss at times but generally good all round. Large selection of wines, beers, cocktails and spirits. Awesome place for Sunday lunch.

I had not been here for years, I have heard so much feedback from people that The Mean Fiddler is great so I thought I'd better check it out.

Having so much difficulty booking Mothers Day lunch this year I was thrilled to be able to book here with no problems or issues. I booked over 2 weeks ago for Lunch, outside, under shelter table near the kids play area, only to find that upon arriving we were placed in the Irish Pub area in a place called the Dungeon, we were a group of 10, with kids and my parents who are elderly. Totally not a great look for my parents, the room had very bad lighting and it really smelled bad in there.

The surroundings of the pub is great, lots of tables, great shelter and ambiance.

I managed to hunt a front door girl down to ask if we could be moved to another table only to be told there was nothing as they were fully booked. I could not understand as I booked well in advance.

The men had drinks while us women walked around and toke in the scenery. We didn't stick around for lunch, such a disappointment for us, we were really looking forward to outdoor dining as it was a beautiful day yesterday.

We wont be returning again

Approximate cost: $10.00

Yet another brilliantly executed review, which many will find useful! Unfortunately, booking in advance does not guarantee anything these days and it appears that you have discovered this the hard way. Given the disagreeable aroma that greeted your party, one is left wondering what caused such a stench in the first place. Despite your experience, it is interesting to note that the business in question has failed to score any perfect â??five starâ?? reviews. Thanks for the heads-up! Regards, Reeces

Your not going to get a drink unless your wearing barely any clothes, they pretty much serve you the tiny but well overpriced drinks, there's fights almost every week because they let people get so drunk - as long as the money is coming in they will keep serving- I do not enjoy the fiddler as a club at all

Sounds like a lot of clubs/ pubs out there...

yes hard to get served, we waited for nearly 10 minutes for drinks yesterday.

We waited what felt like a long time for our steaks.. It was not busy . The place needs a good makeover.. Everything is old and worn out... We have to fight the flies and birds as the eating area is outdoors... Not a pleasant experience.

Approximate cost: $10.00

Meals here are good quality, and can be quite well priced with deals. I think Saturday night it was any main meal for $15 bucks - not a bad deal.

Drinks are pretty expensive.

All in all its the pricing and dress codes of the city but location is a pain to get to. Not to mention if you don't meet the dress code you can't exactly go to the place next door.
Not bad for a night out with your mates or with the family for dinner.

Starting to look a bit messy on Friday nights though..

I read someone else's comments about the placing trying to cater to too many markets, seems pretty spot on. At night it's for 18 year olds, during the day for families etc...

Food and drink are all good quality, but pricing isn't that amazing on a normal day.

Worth a look.

It's one of the most popular clubs in the area. Nice entertainment and the pleasant surrounding with Irish hospitality, with the sort of western or olden barnyard feel.

Approximate cost: $25

Caters for all types, and depends on when you go as to the atmosphere you can expect. Weekdays caters to mum's groups with the playground and kids club, weeknights cater to family dinners and friday and saturday nights cater to the young party-goers. It has lost its ambience of the old irish pub of years ago, but still worth a visit.

I don't know what to think about the Fiddler anymore? Since the renovations, the feel of the place changed. In one corner is fine dining, in another is ice cream & coffee, and in the back corner we have the tradies bar. In my opinion, they are trying to cater for too many different groups, the young, the old, families, mums and kids. Still good for a Friday or Saturday party night, depending on what the crowd is like, although be prepared to get hot and sweaty in the overcrowded sardine tin-shed.

Thanks for the heads-up. Jack of all trades, masters of none. Reeces

Really great pub feel. There are a few different places you can go sit and relax. Food is good and service is too.

Approximate cost: $20

The food here is quite nice, however the crowded atmosphere on a Friday night ruins it. The meals usually come out quickly and are cooked well. The crowd that the Fiddler attracts can detract from the night out, it is usually overcrowded and stuffy in the Woolshed and the music up there is only good when Seattle Sounds are playing.
