I have been stopping in here for years on my way home from the City to indulge in quiche and cakes and I have never had a bad experience. The staff are lovely and all the cakes and pastries are fresh and beautiful. Definitely worth a visit.

This place makes really gorgeous vanilla slice! Soft , smooth and not too sweet. One slice is big enough for two to share . The blueberry and fruit tarts were beautiful as well.

I went to the french lettuce yesterday to try on their vanilla slices since I've heard many good reviews about it. I also bought 3 pieces of macaroon to try on since I also heard good feedback regarding their macaroon. The vanilla slice is so far the best one I've found in Melbourne. It's the right amount of sweetness and soft as well. If there is one thing to improve that would be the crust (top) part. I found it a little too hard for my liking. I tried the salted caramel, rosewater and pistachio macaroon from them. Solid but soft and you could really taste the flavour. Very well done in my opinion. Out of the three I tried, salted caramel is my favourite. Will be back definitely.

We ordered our wedding cake here. Nicole, the events cake co-ordinator was very friendly, organised and helpful. At our tasting she gave us suggestions and it was very clear she was very good at her job. Her cake descriptions were neatly noted and communication was always easy and fast.

We had been to many tastings and there were many that quoted over $500 for a wedding cake (for coffee portions for 80 guests). We were so glad to have found French Lettuce as we found our cake significantly lower priced but the cake was delicious.

I highly recommended all prospective brides to pop in and have a look. If you find that the website does not have cake designs that you fancy, they have a very big portfolio in-store and it's a good idea to have a picture of what you want so Nicole can give you feedback on what is possible.

The cake turned up and looked perfect and the cake we chose was "French Lettuce" (chocolate with nuts). It tasted better on the wedding day probably it was fresher, moist and deliciously nutty. We had some guests with nut allergies and French Lettuce was happy to accommodate for them too!

Highly recommended bride-to-be's!! The store has a mini cafe and worth popping in for something indulgent! yum yum!

They baked our wedding cake for us - a white chocolate croquembouche, studded with white roses. We were really happy with the quality of the cake and they delivered on the day without any hiccups. They were so easy to deal with that I was convinced something was going to go wrong - but no, everything was perfect. I had a discount voucher from the wedding show, so their pricing was competitive with other cake shops, but otherwise would have been a little higher, hence the 4 stars for value.

i have gone there for the pastries and coffee before and i have ordered a cake from there before, the cakes and pastries are of good quality, a little pricey but not as pretentious as brunetti's

The food and service is good. but it is very expensive for their food. I heard about this place so many times and found it is not overrated unlike Brunetti which is overrated. The food is good quality and tasty. But the price I was not happy.

Approximate cost: $22
