My wife and I decided to try this cafe as we had driven passed so many times. We soon realised it wasn't our sort of thing, very colourful, many vegan options, the staff were friendly our coffee was good. I am sure many others would really like it here, but not us.

I hate to be a bearer of bad news but I think the Green Room has dropped off a bit. I would have to say that it was previously (well as of 22/10/11) one of my favourite places to eat! Having started attending the Willunga Markets I discovered this little gem right in the middle of the town. Wonderful atmosphere, great service, coffee and the food was excellent! Especially as I am not a vegetarian at all but found the menu and the food just so delicious with a good variety as well as some interesting specials!
However! The place has changed hands. At first not a lot changed. But a group of us attended on this past Saturday and it just wasn't the same. The atmosphere has changed. I didn't mind when they got rid of all the stuff for sale and put in more tables and chairs but it's very bare and stark now with just a lot of photos promoting the plight of the orang-utans (no offence – fully supportive) Then the menu has been changed. Now I have nothing against change but it's shorter in particular the breakfast menu, which is what we were there for. Not as much to choose from and no specials on the big black board!
Previously I have had the home made baked beans and they have been delicious! They were as bland as?? They came with a poached egg…overcooked… no runny yolk…disappointed. Others had the scrambled eggs with a variety of extras, mushrooms or baby spinach – ok I guess but nothing special – just on a couple of small pieces of toast - $12.50? Here's another thing and don't get me wrong, if it's good I am more than happy to pay the asking price, but not happy when its ordinary and $12.50 for a few scrambled eggs, a few mushrooms and two small bits of toast is a bit steep for me. Also we wanted some raison toast for a young child with us - $8.50! Two pieces of raisin toast, and again nothing special, with some local honey and mascarpone.
So, a bit disappointed with the breakfast especially when we had raved about the place to friends and brought them with us.
Atmosphere has changes, menu is smaller, food is more expensive and wasn't as tasty as previously experienced.
However! Service was still great and the staff are excellent!! Always happy to help out and had a smile for us all the time!
Don't get me wrong, this was not a first time visit. I have been there a number of times and eaten there and thoroughly enjoyed the food, but as I said I don't think it is the same…
Will I go back and try again? Maybe, but there is now a lot of competition at Willunga so may choose to visit others.

Been going there for years and seen the highs and lows. The latest downturn does not feel good, the atmosphere is glum and the food hygiene leaves much to be desired. Won't be going again and certainly wouldn't take guests.

Always a friendly experience with amazing tarts, friends etc made in-house - I have several favourites. Breakfasts are great too but expect it to be busy on a Saturday morning - the staff work hardest then! Ingredients are local and/or organic and the range of local/organic/recycled/ethical food, clothes, gifts and household products makes it a rich experience. I particularly like the posy of flowers on each table and some decorative touches in the cafe area, along with provision of papers, mag.s, and games to make you feel really at home.

The Green Room is one of my local cafe's - we have 6! I choose The Green Room over any of the others due to the outstanding friendly service and the brilliant facilities for kids! Huge enclosed outdoor play area with toys and sandpit, indoor drawing and toy area and kiddie table. The coffee is lovely - a little more expensive than some of the other places, but the food is awesome and from locally sourced where possible. Sue is totally caring and always has time for a hello. A great range of products and lovely classy clothing from natural textiles - it's the first place I go for gift shopping. I've been going there at least weekly for the last 3 or so years, and now have a great rapport with all of the staff. Can't recommend enough! Visit during the week for a great, homey, peaceful atmosphere, or if you like a bit of a busier pace, try it on a Saturday morning when you visit the local farmers market. Awesome.

It was busy busy busy, but everyone got the best attention and the food was homemade and excellent. The tomatoes with my scrambled egg breakfast really were SLOW roasted, not just pretend! Catered for my coeliac needs including a Swiss chocolate brownie to die for :) Lovely ambience. Fabulous place, I will be back again and again.

Brilliant food , great warm hub with a warm welcoming happy Sue who has for every client a special welcome. If you ever feel awful, due to a severe back age, Sue is there and peps you up and invites you to stretch yourself out on the couch and she comes in with some cushions, you are served as a queen. When it is chilly Sue has lovely crochet rugs to throw over you. I love it there. It feels homely. I certainly recommend her lovely restaurant or THE GREEN ROOM as it is called. We hope to see the Green Room as many times as we can effort it , and that it always stays as homely as it is now. Thanks Sue and your lovely team. Bea Dicks
