Great for a few drinks but it's just a pub really so not much happening. They'll have sport on TV and heaps of guys in there always. Toilets are clean which is a plus

Had a chicken parma with some mates. The service was not the quickest (for some reason they got part of the order confused - but they sorted it), The chicken parma was totally worth the wait though! The chips were excellent too.
We sat outside under heaters, as they were very busy. Best to make a booking to get a table.

Approximate cost: $25

The standard of food and service has dropped at the imperial. With people coming into Melbourne from interstate and overseas I have avoided taking them there.

One of the oldest pubs in Melbourne and it is a classic. A very popular venue for after work drinks. Just recently I was dining there with my Mother and our booking went astray for some reason? The lady who served us made sure we had a table in the busy restaurant somehow? That is the sort of service I love and respect. Normally a very friendly atmosphere here...

Great option for after work drinks - can't comment on prices because it was my colleagues treat!

Went here for dinner before a rugby game in the city. Coming from the UK and having lived in Melbourne for a few years this is the first pub that reminds me of ones back home. The look and feel was like a British Pub and showing a rugby game in the background was great.

Food wise this place is satisfactory, portions looked a bit small when they came out but I think its more to do with the giant plates they serve on. By the end of my burger I was fairly satisfied. Prices are as you'd expect for inner city so no surprises there. Location wise its great, right next to Parliament Station exit so easy to get to.

Overall I had an enjoyable time at Imperial, now I have found a proper pub to watch rugby in while eating a burger I'll be going back for more.

Approximate cost: $20-30

a nice venue. meals are very small so quite expensive. Drinks are a bit high but it is city prices. friendly crowd and manager. i was a bit disappointed with 1 barmaid who was quite surly and needs to improve her people skills but everyone else working there were fine.

My husband and I had a quick dinner here recently. The location is great, which makes it an easy place to catch up. He had a pizza and I had the "Imperial Parma". The waiter warned me that it was big but I dismissed his comment and ordered it anyway (I figured that it was just something you say.) When they brought out a MASSIVE platter with what looked like a parma made from a whole chicken, I couldn't believe it (I had to take a photo, it was amazing!) It certainly explained the $25 price tag. It was freshly cooked, tasted absolutely delicious, and I just could not finish it all.
My husband told me that the Imperial used to have a political theme, with pizzas named after politicians and caricatures on the walls. They've obviously done away with this in recent times, which I think is a shame. With so many places to eat in the city (including a number of pubs) it's valuable to have a differentiating factor (and with such a perfect spot opposite Parliament House, that particular theme is ideal.) I have been to several politically-themed pubs throughout the world and have always found them to be charming and fun, giving interesting cultural insights into the political landscape of that particular place. While the atmosphere of the Imperial is quite lovely, being quiet and subdued, I think that they would do well to bring back the political theme!

Approximate cost: $Mains between $15-30

For a venue in the city I was surprised at the prices as they weren't through the roof. The meal I had was tasty and the service was unmatchable.

A great place to catch up during the week for a friendly drink and quick meal. The Imperial has 'happy hour' Mon-Fri, and the meals are very tasty at very reasonable prices. Atmosphere even better now with the non-smoking legislation.
