Was not impress with the service and food after being highlighted at the Sydney weekender. Could got better value and better food for money spent elsewhere.

I took an overseas visitor To TIFP because I had heard fantastic things about it. It was a balmy evening so the courtyard seating was delightful, nevermind the charming impression it made when we first arrived.

The service was a little slow but we didn't help the matter by repeatedly putting off our order because we were so busy chatting. Before the food was even brought to the table we realised we were suddenly in a bit if a hurry to leave as we had arranged a pickup at 8pm. We were not too happy when the waitress brought us only one main meal! My friend and I had ordered the same thing but the waitress seemed to misunderstand and thought we were sharing. If she thought that was the case, she really should have found that request odd and repeated the order back to us! Anyway, we had ordered a slow cooked meal which had probably been ready for hours so it didn't take them long to cook up more pasta and serve me my dinner. It was a quality, tasty meal but no surprises.

That was one thing that struck me about TIFP's menu - nothing piqued my interest; I felt I knew exactly what each of the menu items would taste like. Sure, the classic combinations work but where's the point of difference?

Went on a very busy night so the service was a little slow and drinks forgotten on occasion, but overall was friendly. Food absolutely divine and a great atmosphere. Not somewhere I'd go for a cosy night out, but definitely the place to be with a group of friends.

My hubby & kids took me to this new restaurant for my birthday recently and it is yummy! It's the newest addition to Camden and seems to be very popular - especially on weekends. We had no probs booking a table for a Thursday night though. It's probably not the best place to take a 4 year old & a 2 year old as it is quite small & the wooden floor exacerbates the kids' noise. It'd definitely be the place to go for a quiet date just with hubby (will remember that for next time). That saying, the kids menu is great with a few selections - ours had a veal schnitzel with chips & gelato and they enjoyed it. As for hubby & I, we shared a Capricciosa pizza and Taglietelle with blue-swimmer crab and both were delicious. We had also ordered a side of salad but that never arrived - thankfully we were full & they did apologise for it being missed. I had a lovely glass (maybe 2) of Pinot Grigio and hubby had a Peroni. Would definitely recommend The Italian Food Project for a lovely dinner out.
