One of Melbourne's best places for craft beer. A constantly rotating line-up, always with a few surprises on the list. Rooftop area is great for summer evenings, and the menu is ideal for a snack or dinner.

The choice of beer is great. Quite expensive, but thats to be expected with the quality of the beers. Staff are really rude though, ruined the whole vibe of this place.

Before my partner and I got together, we spent heaps of time upstairs in the beer garden hanging out by the fireplace as the weather was starting to get cooler. What a great place to pass the time! There's something really cozy about this place without it being overly romantic, overstated or pretentious. If you want a laid back place to enjoy an evening with good company this is your spot! Also love how quirky the bar staff are, they're always up for a chat if you've got nothing better to do - especially if you want to talk beer! Their local selection is phenomenal

Really relaxed place has a really good live band playing till around 1am. Mixed age group casual dress, unique imported beers. Really enjoyed my night there great place to catch up with a friend because the music is not to loud and everyone is happy and having fun.

the best craft beer and cider selection you'll find for a long way in melbourne. great comedy and trivia nights weekly, upmarket pub food and a great vibe on the rooftop to enjoy a summer dinner. quality food, a little overpriced but people pay it because of the atmosphere. fun place to spend the night

I really can't believe how many beers there are in this world, at this place, you could just about try every type of beer out. A tinsey expensive but a great night out with your friends.

As you would expect, the array of tap beers on offer is very impressive. A great place to try something a little different to your standard pour teamed with some pretty good food as well. They seem to be trying something different lately with a tapas focused menu with 3-4 main sized meals available also. The tapas we tried were well thought out albeit a little over-priced for what we received. Good bar food but maybe try somewhere else on Carlisle Street if you're overly hungry.

Recently renovated bar in Balaclava offering up to 40 different beers on tap alone! Apart from its numerous beer offerings (both bottled and on tap), The Local is a laid back venue offering comfortable vintage surrounds and terrace upstairs to enjoy one of the many beers on offer. Definitely somewhere to try for a 'beer nut'! However, it is pricey compared to other bars in the surrounding area.
