They have the best homemade pies I have ever tasted. I go down fortnightly to visit a friend and stop in and buy a stack of pies to take home. Had lunch there and it is a wholesome, homecooked meal, but of high class, would highly recommend it

Intense flavours and following a Germanic tradition of proportions that are more than portions. This is a regular stop for us and the overall 4/5 reflects only their artistic indifference to regular trading hours. House wines are from the Pyrenees - need I elaborate? One soup shared is often sufficient - I swear they get a bizarre amusement from seeing how much sourdough caraway they can serve on the side & we'll still get thru it. the Goat

Went to Lyrebird cafe on Friday night. The food was fantastic - I am new to this area and very pleased to find a restaurant of such fine quality and price - the prices were amazing. I had the vegetarian option (it would be great to see more vegetarian options) and it was a stand out dish - really good quality pasta (makes such a difference) and a green salad - nicely dressed. My friend had a chicken burger - which was much more than a burger. The cafe had a stylish, relaxed, earthy ambiance and was not overcrowded. I will be back.

We have eaten at Lyrebird cafe 3 times now and absolutely love it. The food is amazing and the menu continually changes. Serving sizes are large and are always very tasty and well priced. The service is friendly and unpretentious, with a relaxing feel always shining through. I am so glad that there is finally a restaurant that reflects the true feeling of the hills, quality, fresh, original and comforting.

We went for dinner on a Saturday night . No Sav Blanc left (but its OK, they will have some by next week!) and no toilet paper in toilet. Only one waiter, who was very good, but too busy to provide quality service. Luckily the food was very nice and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, we probably wont be back. Looks like its the REEL or Earthly Pleasures once again!

Very good food and very reasonably priced. Warm ambience with wood fire when cold. Friendly staff though perhaps a little inexperienced. Menu could have more choices though probably reasonable for a cafe. Limited veggo options. Good cakes. Food can be perhaps a bit too grown up for kids as the euro chef likes his spices.

We have dined at The Lyrebird twice now and it has become one of our favourite restaurants. The blackboard menu changes regularly and always has an interesting and varied array of choices. The food is superb and always delicious. The young boy or greets and serves us is helpful, polite and beautifully presented. We are amazed that such delicious food is so reasonably priced and will keep going back.

The food we had was lovely (although we did only have the soup) but unfortunately the service was so appalling we won't be going back. The waitress just stared at us when we came in instead of greeting us, then forgot about us even though there was only one other table of customers. When she did get to us she was so rude and unfriendly, we quickly ate and then left.

The food choice is fairly limited here but the food is quite pleasant although a bit overpriced.

The coffee is average.

In addition to the couple of times I've had a snack in here, I've been in twice but have left as the waitress was surly and unwelcoming and it felt like we were never going to get served.

Went across to the Queen of Tarts on the other side of the road.

Approximate cost: $20
