The Mex Restaurant

We ordered take away from here a couple of months ago. Service was really quick, we did pick up. The food was very good, I wouldn't say amazing. Huge portions though so its great value. I would recommend and I will definitely return for an eat in meal.0

We love this place. The service was great -very friendly staff. We got our meals fast and drinks too. I recommend the sangria - it's awesome here

this is nice place to take the family out for a meal we have been coming here for many years,we have always had a great time it is always very busy but the service is great and we never wait long to be served the food is top notch too

great food and atmosphere most of the time. it can get quite busy and rowdy though. the pricing is fair for the quality of the food and the big potion sizes

One of my favorite restaurants I can not fault this place the staff are fantastic the food is to die for and your overall experience will be amazing, it is a great place to take the kids or go for a romantic dinner the prices would suit everyone value for money at the mex. A great dinning experience

The full blown nachos are a ripper, comes with everything piled on top. Steak salad is a worthy pick and the sesame chicken with satay sauce is generous serving. The satay is pretty mindblowing too. It'll never win a michelin star but solid and very tasty food.

An old local favourite haunt, however don't go here if you want the best service, getting a second drink can sometimes be tough! Despite this, the entree sized sesame chicken is enormous, and you can't go past the satay sauce!

Formerly known as "Mexican Graffiti", The Mex has been an institution in Ocean Grove for more than 20 years now.

Whilst it is located slightly out of town, on the corner of Grubb Road and Shell Road, The Mex has become a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.

Whilst the menu contains a lot of standard Mexican fare - burritos, nachos, fajitas, enchiladas, etc., it also has other things such as steak, ribs, etc.

I personally usually eat Mexican dishes when I'm at The Mex and I must say the quality of the food is top-notch whenever I'm there. It has been that way the whole time I've known the restaurant.

The service was top notch back in the 1990s, but has slackened considerably in the past 15 years or so.

The prices are reasonable, but I wouldn't say they are cheap.

The restaurant also has a bar where people can sit either prior to their meal or simply stay there for a cooling ale. They don't even have to order from the restaurant.

There are stools and high tables in the bar section too, to order a snack with your drinks.

There is also a covered outdoor section which goes well on a warm summer's night.

Always end up here for a dinner over summer at some stage as its always ok service but love the burritos :). Great spot for a family dinner as the menu has something for everyone even if you don't like mexican food. Its also got a bar and outdoor room with heaps of room for a bday party or larger family gatherings. Not too much happening in the bar area as most people come here to dine. Good size meals, love the chicken and cashew burrito, comes with a nice side salad and good amount of fries which i get instead of rice. Went over winter for a dinner and they have a nice fire going. Great spot for a dinner in the area

The food here is nice, but the service isn't very good. You feel rushed and they started to close the restaurant down just after 8pm whilst we were still eating. During summer it gets very busy and this wouldn't occur.

The food was wonderful and the cajien fries are fantastic. However i did ask for not-dairy because i can not have dairy products and it did come with cheese on it. Which was a little bit dissapointing. But the waitress did fix this after we said again. Overall, wonderful food.
Also if you order a ginger beer make sure you say non alcoholic because we got an alcoholic ginger beer. Good family food. Good raffle for good friday appeal. :)

The menu at the Mex caters for people whom like Mexican food and those who don't. There are nachos, enchiladas, burritos for those who enjoy Mexican food and salads, steak and chicken for those who don't like Mexican food. Although this sounds tempting the last few times I have dined there my food was overcooked, stuck to the plate and rather unappetizing.

The food at The Mex in Ocean Grove is great. During summer it can be quite busy so you do have to book. They offer 'early bird' sittings at a cheaper rate. Overall this is a great restaurant with good service, reasonable pricing and the food is fantastic.
