Food is really tasty for 'pub grub' and always on special too! Staff can be a bit blunt but that's expected in a busy place! Pity the tree is gone though

The Normanby is great if you particularly like the sports crowd or a bunch of popped collars surrounding you... but in reality, that just isn't my scene. The drinks are overpriced, the food is standard pub fare, and the desserts cost more than bears thinking for the tiny portions of substandard food. They occasionally have a deal worth peeking in there for, but the majority of the time, I'd generally avoid the place. It works for some, just not for me.

I've only been here once and found it a bit underwhelming. Friends often get together here and rave about the place. As a non drinker (Don't drink alchol and therefore always the designated driver), this might be what was missing about my experience. Friends are always half tanked and I think that enhances their experience - they were so drunk so they therefore had a great time.
The food was nice and staff were there to do their shift and not interested in being pleasant to customers.
Don't think I'll be going out of my way to visit again anytime soon.

I went here for a Sunday lunch with my family recently and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. I hadn't been here for years and I remembered it being quite old but they have renovated and done it up quite nicely. The food was pricey but really really good. I had the best filet mignon I've ever had and their steaks are so tender. They even had face painting and balloon animals set up for the kids. I would definately return for a lovely casual Sunday lunch anytime.

I would go back here if I didn't care about the service I received. The food was really good, but the service was terrible. It seemed like you were bothering the staff if you wanted something. They have a nice outdoor patio.

This place is great. We go there quite often as we just live down the road, the pub is great the food is spectacular and the value for your $ goes a long way. Currently they had a 50% off menu and i have been there 10 times in the past 20 days. I can't get enough of the place!

Went here for after work drinks on a Friday once - they offered a good deal to our business in that each person that registered to attend got 3 free drinks and each 10 people got a free platter. Was a great night and everyone enjoyed themselves. Would go back there again, even if it isn't all free!

I have never been here before and the atmosphere inside is really good. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and really good service, the waitresses were excellent. This would normally be too pricey for me however for the month of July (2012) they have 50% off all food which gave us a good opportunity to try a few things on the menu. The food is very rich however it was still quite good and I definitely recommend the deep fried olives! Note that alcoholic drinks are quite expensive but if you are saving 50% off food then its still a good deal.
