I've been to the Royal Oak a few times, often to just have a drink and listen to music - they have the best live music, and a wide variety. The staff are always friendly, and the atmosphere is always warm and inviting. It's a place that you can feel comfortable going along by yourself, just sitting and listening to the great music. I've had a meal a couple of times, both times the meals were large for the price. Once I really enjoyed my meal, unfortunately the second time the fish was dry and not very enjoyable. It won't stop me going back again, though.
I've never actually had a meal here but stopped in for a few beers with work mates on occasions, the atmosphere is always relaxed, staff pleasant and the beers cold. The food does have a great aroma through the building and the meals I have seen do look great
I would not have thought to come here for a meal if it wasn't for the convenience when taking a guided night tour of Launceston. The food is served hot and tasty a typical pub meal. The service is prompt and friendly
A great place to stop and grab a meal whilst waiting for Launceston Ghost tours to start. The dining area is located away from the bar, you still get a bit of noise filter though but its pleasant not to have to walk through. They do a good Pub meal at a normal counter meal price nothing too fancy
I have dined here a few times over the years, the meals have always been generous in size and great pub style meal. Everything has been fairly priced and staff have always been friendly
We had our dinner here while waiting to go on their famous Ghost Tour of Launceston. This pub has a great welcoming atmosphere. We had Seafood Baskets which were packed with all the usual types of seafood and chips. We also had a Caesar Salad which was far too big for us to finish, but was wonderfully fresh and tasty. The service was great and quite quick. All in all a great pub to visit and have a meal.
Approximate cost: $Depends on what you order, but reasonably priced.
