On a cold melbourne day, a nice hot cup of soup is very inviting. And the cute little cauldrons of soup displayed at the front of this shop is a definite draw card. They had various flavors including interesting sounding ones like cauliflower and blue cheese as well as classics like potato and bacon. I went for the soup of the day which is mushroom with truffle oil. Bread is included in each order. Whilst the soup had the distinct flavor of mushroom, I couldn't pick up any truffle. Further the soup was lacking salt and didn't taste very nice overall.
Discovered this little place after the footy one evening. After filling up on snacks all arvo in the cold wet winter at the MCG, we jumped on a train into town for something light & healthy for dinner. Menu offered a variety of soups with complimentary bread. It's a bit squeezy sitting inside but cozy with character. The staff although busy could have been friendlier.
Went back last Sunday after a game because it was just what we felt like, but unfortunately it was closed. Went back again, this time on a Saturday arvo. Apparently they're open every day till 7:30ish. Highly recommend the minestrone.
Good range of soups. Friendly service but do not expect too much here. Flavour strengths are average (some too watery others to herby) some I tried I did not like (eg Moroccan lamb), you get the soups with some bread but not much (average portions of bread in comparison to other places). I usually love all kinds of soup but the flavours here even in soups I would usually love are not to my taste.
