Absolutely love The Standard. The atmosphere is of a country pub in the big city. The gardens out the back are brilliant for a beer and a meal. The food is excellent, and they accommodate for big groups really well. Can't recommend this place highly enough

Approximate cost: $50
Really enjoyed the food here every time I've visited. In particular the veggie parma. The beer garden is enormous which is a big tick for me. Laid back and incredibly social pub.
I stopped in on Sunday for an impromptu lunch with friends. From the outside The Standard doesn't look like much but it has a great beer garden and even with a large amount of reservations we were still able to get a table. Parking is hard in the area due to time limits and permit zones so I would suggest getting public transport. It's in a street a block away from Brunswick street so it's very convenient. Menu provided a lot of variety as did the wine list. The wine list was larger and more well rounded than a lot of the hotels in Melbourne. Food was great (especially the dessert spring rolls) and service was great too. There were a large number of people eating but the food still came out of the kitchen very quickly we never thought we were waiting on food.

My perfect Sunday afternoon is heading to the standard for a good feed and a few drinks with friends in the beer garden.
A great pub near Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. It has a really good beer garden for those warmer nights. The inside is decorated in the old fashioned traditional pub style which is very appealing. The pub closes relatively early due to being a residential area. I'd highly recommend it to anyone
The setting is brilliant- the best beer garden in Melbourne, and luckily its atmosphere is matched by the food.
A great permanent menu, with the usual burgers, steak sandwiches, bangers and mash (mmm with rosemary and lamb) but also vegetarian enchiladas, kangaroo steaks or dips and nibblies for a snack. But add to that their range of seasonal specials, and you just never get bored. Yesterday, on the specials board were chili quail, stuffed figs- awewome seasonal food.
Approximate cost: $17
Fantastic pub hidden in the back streets of Fitzroy. A huge beer garden that gets the last of the afternoon sun in summer. Yummy pub grub from parmas to bangas and mash. Great place to meet a group of friends in a cosy seeting for a jug or three.
Approximate cost: $17.00
