There is always something happening at the star. Great range of little restaurants inside the hotel and great entertainment.

I have been to the Star a few times now, but the first time we went was the worst first impression imaginable.

We arrived to see Hot Shoe Shuffle, we were running late and had taken a cab which dropped us off at the main entrance (hotel to the left, theatre to the right, casino straight ahead) my mum needed to use the loo and went towards the hotel part as directed by the Greeter person at the foot of the stairs. I went to check which way to go to get to the Lyric.

Less than a minute had passed when I met up with my mum again to find her quite upset, she ignored me and went straight to the greeter to complain; She had just begun to step into the public bathroom when the woman ahead of her, who she had followed in, spun around, said "Out of service" and slammed the door in her face almost knocking her over (my mum is a senior citizen who walks with the aid of two walking sticks).

The greeter didn't care, he said he was sorry she was upset, repeated all the placating PR nonsense they teach them and refused to report it, direct us to someone to report it, or do much of anything other than smile and act pleasantly apologetic.

Needless to say my mother was now very upset and still needed to go to the bathroom. We headed to the next closest loo (just before the food court) and found several staff members refusing entry. Apparently there was a problem with all the water pipes bursting - all over the hotel. They never mentioned if it was only in the public ones or if the private rooms were effected as well, it had only just happened. The lady who informed us of this was some sort of manager, and far more professional than the other two. We told her what had happened, and she said she would look into it, she told us where to find the nearest public loo outside the Star and offered to have someone direct us there personally. All the while directing staff in person and on her walkie-talkie.

Most of my other gripes are pretty minor in comparison; high prices, restaurants/bars near the Lyric never being open late - only the food court, the light rail platform being double-length so you can get stuck at the wrong end and have to run down to the tram before it takes off.

The Star Shuttle service is very handy, although the website and shuttle helpline aren't very clear about which bus stops to use. And the shuttle drops you off at completely different stops to where you catch the service.

Other positives are the food court near the Lyric is amazing, you have to try the Gelato place. And the light-rail service now connects to Dulwich Hill.

Still I only go there when there's a show I want to see.

Casino is sub-par say, compared to the Crown in Melbourne. However, it has charm from its size and many different themes. The attached hotel has very bad service so beware. Other wise, I would would say its OK

GREAT dining to suit every taste. The Dergah Grill downstairs serves incredible kebas. The Pulse serves lovely coffees, lattes, and tasty desserts. Loved it! The Garden Buffet downstairs was a nice mix of Chinese, American (no way), and Australian dining. Not a bad place to chow down.My main gripes were the phone in our room kept resetting and 75% of the time we stayed it wasn't working. They also nickel and dime you for internet access (the Business Center charged $6 per 15 minutes) and charge you PER DAY for room WiFi when it should be given free in a high-end place such as this. The drain in our sink was very slow and the staff never resolved the issue while we were there.

Love the new star. Value depends on where you are going. There are a range of different food outlets to choose from. From fine dining to food court grub. The new revamp has added high end shops around the outside of the casino trying to be more like the melbourne and overseas casinos.

love this place especially since they renovated. all the shops closed at midnight. the food court are amazing , they have din thai fung , adriana zumbo , and if u r here .... definitely have to try the gelato at gelatomessina. you can reach here by tram or light rail. the parking is abit expensive unless the street parking. overall this is a must go to place in Sydney.

you can get your parking validated in the casino if you put enough money on the table or down the slots..

How does that work out to be cheaper parking, unless gambling is what you came to do?

It is very exciting visiting The Star these days, especially since it was revamped. The bars are really trendy, the eateries are good and it always feels like a glamorous night out in the city. The accommodation there is fantastic, very good quality and value for money. Definitely recommend checking out The Star if you have not been there before.

A really exciting place to go with great atmosphere especially in a Friday or Saturday night. This place has recently been renovated and you can see a big difference. A little more luxurious now with a few high end shops and some great restaurants. Great for a night out with friends if you've got a bit of cash to spend.

The luxury casino floor at The Star is world class! Apart from the great service you get there it is also surrounded by amazing nightlife and restaurants. It's great for a night of fun.

Didn't know there were different levels eg luxury level, does that mean there is an economy level? Never been to this place.
