Don't know what happened to this place, used to come here regularly over many years, friends with the bar staff etc. but the security there really lets them down. I personally have experienced issues here, and I know others who have had almost identical issues here.
Sure, a lot of security are known for being bozos, but not all, but 1 or 2 guys at the VY take the cake, and on top of that, the management don't seem to care how their patrons are treated either when I raised it with them, which is the icing on the cake of bad customer service. Have boycotted this place ever since.

We dined at the Vineyard because we wanted to see the Baker Boys perform. The food was surprisingly good! The Vinyard was only offering 1 dessert to choose and my dining companions enjoyed it very much. Great place for a casual catch up, listen to a great band and have a really tasty meal!

True - There is not better way to spend a lazy afternoon in st kilda. The food is excellent, the service is generally very average to poor - but the atmosphere is great. Great tip for a local experience, you will find the staff young and disinterested.

Approximate cost: $22

This is a popular place for a reason. Good location, good food, good service and reasonable prices. I have been here several times and the quality is always consistent. I'll be back again when I'm in the area.

It seems wrong to give 3 stars on each of quality, service and value then rate the vineyard 4 stars overall. The food is good, the wine is ok, the service is generally very average to poor - but the atmosphere is great. Going to the vineyard is a really local experience, the staff are party goers, young and disinterested but this just adds to the laughs you can have during the experience. There is not better way to spend a lazy afternoon in st kilda. The comment from OH2 made me laugh about the death stare. I so know what you mean. But you can usually find us here any friday for after work drinks for an unpretentious, fun time.

The burgers are great, depending on the staff you can have a good experience or a bad one. Some are polite others are rude and disinterested, but if you manage to make it through the door without being death stared your in for a good bite and a quite drink. Good for Sunday brunch.

Approximate cost: $16
