My daughter and I had lunch here one very cold, wet and windy day. The place was very busy but the service was prompt and pleasant. My burger was very tasty with the chips just how I like them-thin and crispy. My daughter's soup and cheese toastie was also tasty and very warming. There were a few interesting items for sale including candles, postcards, notebooks and serviettes though these were a bit expensive. On a fine day the view would be splendid. There is plenty of parking plus bush walks for energetic people!

Approximate cost: $20

I just went up to Macedon for the weekend and had lunch at Top of the Range, and I have to say It was so lovely and relaxing, the menu and staff have changed since I was last here (a month ago) and the improvement is a marked one, the much improved atmosphere made it a great end to a lovely day at the Cross.

Approximate cost: $17

To be honest I was so disappointed! I took my mother here for Mothers Day and walked in and the seating was white plastic outdoor chairs, trestle tables with paper table clothes and the floor was covered in scraps and rubbish from previous diners.
The location and potential of this place is fantastic but it is really not being utilised at all!!!
We arrive for afternoon tea and ordered 3 devonshire teas. The scones were heavy, cold and had a damper-like texture and the hot chocolates tasted like bland hot water.
The one thing that was great was the award winning home made strawberry jam...

My mother had been here before a few years ago when it was under different management and she said it was fantastic. Would not go back again, mum was even disappointed!

Top of the Range Tearooms is situated at the very top of Mt Macedon, so spectacular views are gauranteed. It is a very laid back and casual cafe style restaurant that serves delicious food at really affordable prices. 'The Cross' is also situated at the top of the mount, so walk off your lunch and visit this memorial which is so big it can be seen hundreds of kilometres away. It's a windy road heading up the mountain but very scenic and beautiful.
