Yesterday a 32 year old woman sat in our waiting room. She has cystic fibrosis and type 1 diabetes. Cystic Fibrosis is a severe genetic condition which causes massive lung damage. She has only had one shot of AZ vaccine to protect her against covid, so has about a 68% chance of catching it, should she happen to walk past someone with covid breathing out at the time she breathes in. She is on new medication now and has 40% lung capacity which has saved her from needing the lung replacement which had been scheduled for 2019.
I owe her a duty of care.
Your 2 year old probably does not have covid. I agree. But they might.This is the scenario I have to manage every day, so I am not apologizing for asking you to wait outside, and I do not apologize for protecting my staff and all of the other patients, about whom you know nothing.
Our online questions screen for contagion so if answered honestly, mean you speak to receptionists about getting the best and most appropriate appointment for you or your child so that everything runs as smoothly as it can when dealing with humans and human issues. These receptionists are not doctors, as you say. They are people who have valiantly managed over a year of distressed patients, constant mask wearing, hourly disinfecting of all surfaces and frequently changing rules. The hardest aspect of their job is coping with the kind of abuse you have demonstrated in both this review and your threatening email.
