In early August 2024 I underwent a robotic enucleation (simple) prostatectomy performed by Dr Kua. This was necessary because of gross enlargement of my prostate, detected by scans following a jump in my PSA level. Dr Kua explained clearly the results of the scans, that the enlargement was the biggest he had seen, and the urgent need for surgery, despite my lack of significant symptoms other than occasional spotting. The surgery was arranged at relatively short notice and completed successfully. Fortunately, tissues were benign.
My recovery proceeded very well, and Dr Kua and I are happy with an excellent outcome, with my PSA dropping to almost negligible level post-surgery and no issues at all with leakage. Dr Kua was very affable and clear with his information and care before and after surgery, and I readily recommend his services. I was also pleased that as I went past the robot on entering the theatre I did not hear a robotic voice exclaiming “Exterminate, Exterminate….”

After the initial shock of a positive diagnosis, the process went very smoothly. Dr Kua performed a biopsy and sent me for a number of scans that incrementally isolated the state of the cancer in my prostate. After discussing options, it was clear that the most appropriate solution for me was the prostatectomy. I am 60 years old and had a PSA of 4.1.

Following the operation, I had no bruising or pain and now have 5 small scratches on my abdomen with a small scar above the belly button. The incontinence was a worry for the first few weeks, but has now reduced to only 6ml per day after 11 weeks. I'm still working on the erectile function but expect this to take a while to return. I'm now going on long walks and rode my bike last weekend for the first time since the operation.

I found Dr Kua to be very approachable, good humored and at the same time direct and reassuring. His appointments were never rushed, and he took the time to describe things in a way I could easily understand.

I'm now cancer free with a PSA of 0.008 and feeling great. Thanks Dr Kua!

At 62 years and with no real symptoms of prostate cancer, except a PSA level just over the normal range, I was referred to Dr Kua by my family doctor. After Dr Kua recommended a scan and then we when ahead with a biopsy to my surprise I had early mid-range prostate cancer. Dr Kua pleasant manner really made my wife and I very comfortable, he explained the situation very clearly, including all the options available for treatment including watchful waiting.

After waiting 5 months the robotic surgery to remove my prostate, performed by Dr Kua, went extremely well and was referred by Dr Kua as a textbook case. I was referred to Dr Kua by my GP as a result of my PSA steadily increasing over a period of time. I did not think a level of 4.2 at 78 years of age was high. Dr Kua recommended a PET scan which showed a hot spot on my prostate. A biopsy revealed Prostate cancer at level 7 on the Gleason scale. I was given a choice of radiation treatment or surgery. I am so glad I chose surgery performed by Dr Kua by the Da Vinci Robotic system. Within 3 months I was dry. No need to wear incontinence pads and still had erectile function as a result of his his surgery skills. 6 months in my PSA is 0.012. An excellent result. I can't speak more highly of Dr Kua. He literally saved my life.
