I honestly can't recommend VSS highly enough. We were referred to Dr Bowles after our beautiful border collie was having breathing difficulties. When we first arrived our girl was offered oxygen while we were waiting for our appointment so she wouldn't be in distress. Dr Bowles was very upfront about our options and the cost for each. She didn't sugar coat things and I really appreciated her honesty.
Having previously been to another Veterinary Specialist with a different pet, I found VSS so much more honest and caring.
Reading the comments below, the receptionist when we originally rang to confirm our appointment was a bit rude but the receptionist that were on when we got there couldn't have been nicer or more caring. They called our pets by name and asked after them when we came back in.
Yes the costs are expensive but I actually found it a bit cheaper than the other specialty vet. There is no medicare for animals and it can be a bit of a shock if it's the first time dealing with a specialty vet, but I didn't think they were overcharging.
We were given all the options upfront and they didn't push us into putting her through tests or treatments that would stress her further, unlike the other vet.
Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to our beautiful girl, but Dr Bowles and the staff made the experience as respectful and dignified as possible. The thing that I appreciated most was that they gave us as much time as we needed with her beforehand, and Dr Bowles talked to our dog instead of to us as she passed away.
Also, when they gave us our girl to take home, she was treated with so much dignity and respect. Having previously recieved our pets back tied in a plastic bag inside the calico back, I was very touched that our girl's head was left out.
Even though we didn't get the outcome we obviously wanted, I couldn't have asked for better treatment or a better vet.

our beloved dog Ambrose, was swiftly taken in to the Intensive Care Unit at this facility. such love and attention could not be more demonstrated. from the reception desk to Doctors and nurses, it was so evident they do the work out of genuine love of animals. I did not know such a place existed. they really should receive more publicity. they kept us informed at all times day and night. Ambrose was so loved by these people.nothing was too much.
