We use a number ofdifferent techniques to help you rehabilitate post injury, getting you back toyour best self as quickly and safely as we can.
Our core service at Whittens Physiotherapy Centre isthe provision of evidence-based physiotherapy. We are experiencedin the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal problems and have beenawarded an Australian Achievers Award for Customer Service in the past. Our aimis to identify the problem, treat it and restore normal function so that youcan return to your normal activities.
Conditions that physiotherapy can treat include:
Sportinginjuries
Low backpain
Neck pain
Headaches
Arthritic pain
Post-joint surgeryrehabilitation-total knee, hip and shoulder replacements
Shoulderpain including rotator cuff injuries, “bursitis”, dislocations
De-conditioning- devising exercise programs to get your strength or fitness back
Another core service offering is the practice of ergonomics. If you are having problems while working, it may be due to a poor setup at yourdesk or work table. We can advise you about your working environment, positioning and the correct ergonomic office chair and desk that may suit yoursituation. Ergonomics is not just about buying expensive equipment to use forwork. Often there are simple solutions that can have a significant impact onyour body’s ability to cope with your working environment.
We can also advise you on what you can do to improve howyour body copes with your working activities. It can be as simple as stretchingto correct tight muscles or strengthening exercises to improve the endurance ofthe muscles that are struggling while working.
We also offer exercise rehabilitation as we believethis underpins the successful recovery for most musculoskeletal problems, suchas low back pain and sciatica, shoulder and knee pain to name a few. It isimportant that the affected muscles are identified and then rehabilitated.Returning muscles to their pre-injury state will decrease the chances ofre-injury. We realise people are time poor and so we try and make the exerciseseasy and portable. Using resistive bands is an easy and effective way toexercise different muscle groups without the need to attend special classes orbuy expensive equipment.
Common conditions that exercise rehabilitation is important for include:
Aftersurgery such as knee arthroscopic surgery, total knee replacements, total hipreplacements, shoulder replacements, rotator cuff surgery and other muscle andjoint surgeries.
After sporting injuriessuch as sprained ankles, torn muscles.
After aperiod of inactivity.
After afall.
After aperiod of sickness such as cancer where there has been a significant amount ofdeconditioning.
After aback or neck injury
