The food doesn't taste authentic at all with poor customer service. Used to go back in high school because it was a cheap popular choice for dinner back in the days. Once had yakitori chickens delivered to me when they were still half raw. Never went back since.

This is a cheap eat Japanese restaurant. The food is good value for the price but don't expect grand decor or great service. People just do their job and serve the food. Otherwise it's good value decent Japanese food for a quick feed.

Ive been here a couple of times mostly because im looking for a cheap eat. The service is definitle appaling, sometimes i feel as if the staff are just ignoring me. But the food is not too bad so i will come back.

I have been here one time, but never want to go back.
Because I couldn't taste Japanese food, it was too strong Chinese food.
Also service is no good, the staff attended so late for us.
Yoyogi is a famous place in Japan, but not in Melbourne.

Approximate cost: $12

You know - with the number of Japanese eateries and sushi places around Melbourne-town, it's easy to make a wrong choice. No chance of that at Yoyogi though - the sushi is great value for money here, with sizes that would actually be able to fill you up. There is also a filling selection found here which is quite rare to find at other places (soft-shell crab roll comes to mind).
If you're after something fast, the home made Dim Sims are exceptional value at $0.80 each and it only takes a few to get you full.
Best of all though is the hot food menu which offers exceptionally large portions of great tasting Japanese fair at insanely low prices. Take for example the Yikunku Don (fried beef with rice), at approximately $8, the serving is so large that you'd think a whole cow went into it. The chicken curry is also exceptional value at only $6 or so.
While the service may not be flash, and the upstairs seating somewhat stuffy during the warmer months, once you've tried this place, it'll sure to become an easy choice for regular eating when you're in town.

Approximate cost: $7
