Missing Farmer Joe's? Take heart then because Amici Deli is like Farmer Joe's without the fresh produce but with awesome, awesome coffee and a few light meals available.

If you loved Farmer Joe's deli, walking into Amici Deli is like seeing an old friend after a long absence. Many of the stock lines are the same and the place smells heavenly!!!!

Amici Deli hasn't been open long so their product range is still growing, but they still have a good selection of smallgoods, olives, coffee, pasta, sauces etc, etc, etc.

The coffee is superb too. They use Di Bella and all of the baristas know what they're doing - I haven't had a dud coffee yet.

Prices are fairly standard for good quality products, however, the coffee is a little more expensive than other local cafes. BUT .... the coffee is far superior and their loyalty card setup is very generous.

I'm a fan.

Approximate cost: $4.50 for large coffee

I first found Mark Humphreys when he was contracted to repair commercial fridges and my work used his services. Since then, I have called Mark to repair my fridge and freezer and my daughter's fridge.

Mark is a rare tradesman ..... he turns up when he says he will! If you're lucky and work close to home as I do, Mark will ring you when he's on his way so you can meet him without having to give up a couple of hours waiting.

Another amazing quality of Mark's is his honesty. After repairing my freezer, I called him back because it still wasn't working properly and Mark fixed it at no charge because it was him who had made an error.

I won't use anyone else now.

Approximate cost: $79 call out fee + $48 per hour + parts

I have recently attended my second annual update of CPR training with Alibi Training and continue to be impressed with the professionalism and personality of this company.

The presenter, Paul, is very personable and is very skilled in judging the mood of the group and in engaging all attendees so that boredom is never an issue. With CPR training, when you have to do it every year, being engaged by the presenter makes the process all the more enjoyable.

I have eaten at this cafe several times and have not been disappointed ever. My daughter and her partner love this cafe and dine there on an almost weekly basis so when accompanying them, the service is even better than normal.

Everything in this cafe is made on the premises, including the cakes, so the food is always deliciously fresh. The food is mostly of Italian origin though there are less rich dishes available for those who don't like the fulsome Italian flavours. The cafe is licensed but the markup on alcohol isn't as excessive in many other similar cafes. I'm not sure if you can take your own.

The only downer for me is that the coffee cups aren't big enough and I have had better coffee elsewhere.

This place is extremely busy on weekends so it pays to book. Booking is a must if you are planning on eating there on days such as Mothers Day or Fathers Day.

Approximate cost: $20 - $25

I have just completed my second foray into purchasing tyres from this particular store and I have to say, they surprised me.

I rang up just looking for a quote and found they had a SUPER special finishing the next day and were keen to make sure I didn't miss out. The special was to buy four tyres for the price of three AND it did include 4WD tyres. So often these specials don't.

So, in my car went today and surprise, surprise! The car was ready when they said it would be. No waiting on drop off, no waiting on pick up and they didn't make too much of a mess with my car. They did move the driver's seat but seeing they didn't leave grease on the steering wheel, I won't quibble.

There was some upselling too, but it wasn't excessive and it was done with a smile. What I particularly appreciated was that they didn't try and tell me there was something wrong with my car and that it needed to be repaired - that happens far too often when there is nothing wrong with your car.

Approximate cost: $900

This review is for The Athlete's Foot, Chermside QLD

If you want shoes that are kind to your feet, The Athlete's Foot at Chermside is the best place to start.

They don't just sell sports shoes! They also stock walking shoes and they now have a range of attractive women's support sandals. With their Fitrprint machine, they can also analyse your foot and ensure that any shoes you buy will be the best thing for your feet.

This store sometimes gets a little busy so if you go there at peak times it might take a few minutes to have the undivided attention of one of their staff, but they will acknowledge you very soon after you enter the store. Off peak times, the service is immediate, knowledgeable and friendly.

This review is for Muooz, Moorooka QLD

verified email - 21 Mar 2010

Mu'ooz is tucked away at the back of an old arcade so the decor isn't the best, however, the aroma of the food and the coffee lures you in and all else is forgotten! The restaurant wasn't busy so the service was great and food came to our table very quickly and plates were cleared away equally efficiently.

The food! Yum yum! At Mu'ooz, you can either order a particular dish or try a tasting plate containing up to five different dishes of traditional Eritrean cuisine ... the tasting plate is the way to go if you've never tried the food before as you receive a generous portion of each dish (much more than just a mouthful) and plenty of delicious injera as an accompaniament and eating implement.

Mu'ooz means tasty and healthy in Tigrinyan (the language of Eritrea and parts of Ethiopia) and was established as a social enterprise to provide employment for refugee women and their families from African countries. My daughter discovered this restaurant when at university studying social enterprise. Needing a case study for the subject, a work colleague of hers told her about the efforts of the woman who started the project and my daughter decided to begin her research by eating. As they say .... the rest is history and the restaurant is now one of her favourites.

Once a month, a group of friends all loosely connected through my daughter, try a different Brisbane restaurant just for the love of good food. This month it was Mu'ooz and none of us were disappointed.

If you're prepared to relax, try some different foods and have a bit of fun, Mu'ooz is the place for you.

Approximate cost: $35
