My husband and I came here for a joint celebration - our first wedding anniversary and his birthday - so we wanted something extra special. What we got was a beautiful view, a lovely dining room, fantastic service, a really appealing menu, and disappointingly bland food! It was in no way awful, but everything from entree through to dessert just didn't meet the high standards of everything else. Our waiter recommended an excellent wine which we really enjoyed, but the food was the only thing that has made me reluctant to return to this venue - especially considering the relatively high prices.

This place is walking distance from my house and I really wanted it to be great so I could have a fantastic local close to home. Well, it's not great yet, but it's newly renovated and it looks good, so I'll continue to go in the hope it will evolve into something more comfortable. The menu features the pub classics, as well as a few more interesting options, and the dessert menu is really good, but the quality of the meals is a bit unreliable in my experience (soggy chips, fishy caesar...). It was pretty rowdy on the Friday night I was there, but I'm not sure if that's typical. I'm definitely happy to have this place so nearby.

This place was described to me as a no frills option for a good cheap meal, and that's exactly what it was. A reasonable chicken parma was only $11 and the meals came out quickly. On the downside, the bistro area could do with a bit of work to make it more warm and inviting, and the menu options were a bit dated (ham steaks and pineapple?!) but if you don't want a lot of ambience, you can expect a very non-pretentious dining experience. What more do you want when you can't be bothered changing into something nice to go out for dinner?
