I have been shopping at Hindustan for years now. The range of herbs, spices, nuts and lentils is amazing. There is a whole wall of rice. They also have Indian cooking implements, grinders and household items such as soap and incense. The back wall is almost all chutnies, pastes and pickles. They have a small freezer section with savouries, okra, Goan sausage, roti, veggies etc, so pack the cool bag, chilly bin or Esky! I LOVE the smell of this place. Ask for saffron at the front counter. Well worth the drive to Dandenong!
We have been using Steve at S & SJ Mechanical repairs for a couple of years now, for all our regular servicing and one major repair on our 4WD. His prices are reasonable and the service excellent. You don't have to wait weeks for an appointment and he keeps you informed about the progress of the vehicle if it is a big job. We have never had any problems with the work done in the time we have been using this business.
This family run business sells a good range of furniture for the home. There are lounge suites, decor items, bedding and home office options. Something a bit different to the Big Chain stores, especially for the style of homes found in the area. Special orders are taken if you require something non-standard. The staff are all friendly and helpful.
A terrific little shop with high quality bread flours and mixes. Heaps of cake decorating items and tins, spices and foodie gadgets. I had looked everywhere for a lid for my bread tin and found one tucked away here in Heidelberg.. Classes available too. They have a website offering home delivery. Polite efficient service.
This little shop has a great range of haberdashery and general sewing needs, craft needs and knitting yarns. There is a very useful selection of patchwork fabric and all the special requirements a quilter needs to complete a quilt. Very friendly service. Sit and sew sessions available.
We have taken both our cats to Broadford Veterinary Clinic since we picked them up from the shelter. We can always get a quick appointment and the ladies are all very friendly. Their advice and gentle treatment of our animals is great, even if the cats themselves don't necessarily agree!
The girls at the counter in this small pharmacy in the little town of Broadford are incredibly friendly and cheerful. The pharmacy has a small range of giftware and beauty products in addition to the usual services provided by a Chemist. There is also a Medicare Claim point situated inside the pharmacy to speed up your claim.
Jim and Lorraine and their expert staff run a busy little shop with a wide range of patchwork fabrics, notions and patterns. Lots of reproduction fabrics, batting and great advice on your latest project. Classes are run each term and sit and sew classes are run a couple of days each week. Parking is easy and as a bonus the front of the shop houses a Micro-cafe with excellent coffee and sweet nibbles.
Ingrid saves cats from death row and gives then a safe haven until a more permanent home can be found. All animals are checked by local vets and fully vaccinated and desexed before moving to their "forever" homes. Cats and kittens are sold at a reasonable cost to caring households. Ingrid's Haven is a non-profit shelter.
If no home can be found, the cats stay with Ingrid and her loyal volunteers for always. This is a no kill shelter.
Ingrid is one amazing woman. If you can help by giving a cat a forever home or by sponsoring a cat check out her website. http://users.ssc.net.au/ingridshaven/index.htm
We have two of Ingrid's cats who are important and well loved additions to our household.
