This outlet has a huge range of rice, flour, seed, legumes, spices. herbs, nuts, curry pastes and, pickles and condiments. It doesn't just cater for Indian food - also has Sri Lankan, Fijian, Asian and Malaysian products, including fabulous cooking pots, fragrances etc. I originally visited to obtain reasonably priced gluten free flour and soon realised I could restock my pantry, especially spices, dried fruit, nuts and seeds for great prices. I have always had friendly service, but today it was noticeable more attentive. Now that I have a Thermomix, I will be returning more often so I can grind my own ingredients fresh.

hindustan don't care about their customers. when shopping online you never get confirmation of your order, no receipt of payment, never informed when your delivery will come, might not even come the next business day, so you're left wondering when this order will come, they will deliver your order missing items, on few occasions food has been moldy, never answer emails, their staff are extremely rude and instead of working through issues with customers they rather just not have your business. i do not recommend this company. most of their stock comes from basfoods imports and just repacked under "hindustan" brand.

Hi Vojska, I certainly hope you put the time and effort into making a formal complaint in relation to the mouldy food, as this is shocking and an unacceptable health risk. Thanks for the heads-up! Reeces

hindustan imports has a nice selection of some exotic ingredients. they choose to stock mainly south-east asian ingredients (indian, sri lankan, thai) and a few middle eastern ingredients, so you will not find east asian, european or north/south american ingredients here. some have been imported by other companies and resold by hindustan, others are imported and labeled by hindustan. home delivery is $15 or you can get free delivery with an order over $90. their products are averagely priced, there is not much incentive to buy a higher quantity.

dissapointingly, hindustan never confirm the order has been succesful and your online payment has been received, so you are always left wondering. they dont give any indication when the order will be delivered, date or time-wise, either, and in my experience many orders have arrived missing ingredients because they are 'out of stock' yet the website does not tell you this. i've also had my customer queries via email ignored.

all in all they provide an opportunity to get a few exotic ingredients delivered to your home but with the cost of really bad customer service.

I have been shopping at Hindustan for years now. The range of herbs, spices, nuts and lentils is amazing. There is a whole wall of rice. They also have Indian cooking implements, grinders and household items such as soap and incense. The back wall is almost all chutnies, pastes and pickles. They have a small freezer section with savouries, okra, Goan sausage, roti, veggies etc, so pack the cool bag, chilly bin or Esky! I LOVE the smell of this place. Ask for saffron at the front counter. Well worth the drive to Dandenong!

I don't live close by to where Hindustan is located - but it's worth the trip seeing as their range of products are quite good. Good quality imports that I usually wouldn't expect so see around =]

This store has EVERYTHING you could want for your Indian cooking supplies - and more! They have every type of flour, pulse/lentil, rice, dried fruit/nuts, spice, herb that you could dream of and in any quantity that you need. They also have oils/ghee and other cooking supplies (woks, steamers, grinders, moulds etc.).
