I could NOT BELIEVE in a Friday evening when I went to order clear chicken noodle soup (for a convalescing relative) that was on the menu board, the lady at the counter said “No” to me! When I asked her why not, she replied, “We too busy”. I stood there in disbelief!
“Too busy to make me a soup that is on your menu?” I asked
To which she replied, “Yes. No time to make you soup”
HAHAHAHA!! I’ve lived in the area for over 30 years, I buy food from most of the shops up there and people know what I want because I’m a regular, I went here for the first tine and that’s the response I received! APPALLING!!!!
BE WARNED: The cinnamon scrolls here are to DIE for!! They have other amazing flavours too (Orange & Macadamia, Nutella & Banana, Cookies & Cream, Chocolate) GOOD LUCK trying to decide what to have!! (Box of six small cinnamon to take home a great treat - family fights over them like seagulls over a hot chip!!)
What a little gem!! We celebrated a family member's birthday here on Saturday night. They have a back area in the restaurant that we had to ourselves - walls covered with star jasmine (gorgeous) we could be as noisy as we wanted without disturbing the guests in the main part of the restaurant. The food was terrific, (Antipasto platters, 3 types of Pasta, Pizza's and Salads), the staff attentive and very friendly - nothing was too much!
We had a bite to eat here with friends and family after the football on Saturday night. The waitress was friendly and attentive to our needs. Burgers/pizza's are great for teenagers. I ordered the Rump (cooked perfectly) but chose to pass on the chips, asking for veges or potatoes/mash instead. Unfortunately, they didn't offer any other alternatives. Overall, it's a great place to drop-in for a quick bite, but there could be a little more variety/flexibility on the menu.
We dropped in for coffee and cake after dinner, and were VERY pleasantly surprised! The waitstaff were very attentive and accommodating - coffee was fantastic (NOT bitter) you must, desserts were delish but you MUST have the Tirami Su (to share) I've been dreaming about it since Saturday night!! Will DEFINITELY go back!! It was a cool evening, so we sat inside, but it would be equally lovely to sit outside. We used to frequent the same restaurant in the 90's in Double Bay and were delighted to find it again :-)
What a GREAT space! We were looking for a decent place for dinner in this area, and unfortunately most places close early (around 5pm). We were pleasantly surprised by Vicinity - sexy interiors, (subtle separate bar, lounge, private party & dining area) attentive staff. Sadly (sides) veges are ordered separately. Aside from that, very happy with location, food and TERRIFIC Caprioskas (made to our request!) Four adults: Four mains, 3 sides, 4 cocktails, 4 beers/cidars = approx $290
We ate here last Saturday night - we were a large group (12 people). They were a little slow in getting to us to take our order, but once they did, we didn't have to wait long for the food. Scallops (in the shell with light dressing) were FABULOUS - Highlight of the night!! S&P Soft shell crab was pretty good. We're not big on Thai for dessert, but the "banana coconut" cake was more-ish (Next time I'll suggest they serve it WITHOUT cream, perhaps an extra scoop of ice cream instead). Note: BYO and no nearby bottle shops
This restaurant had absolutely no atmosphere. We ate here with friends (we all love Indian, and hot/spicy food) however, this restaurant lacked originality. For entrees we had the Tandoori Tikka, which was ok, followed by mains of Sizzling Garlic Prawns that came in too much creamy sauce, lamb Korma, which wasn't very interesting, however the Goat Karahi was REALLY nice! Our side salad was Tomato and Onion - expecting a traditional Indian salad, this was just sliced tomatoes and onion - a waste of money. Won't be going back :-(
Tucked away in a sleepy little shopping centre (on the way to Cronulla), I first tried their Japonaise (over 10 years ago), and just had to find out where it came from! Since then, whenever we need a cake for a special occasion, or to take a cake for a special event, I've never been let down. Apart from the Japonaise, they have a chocolate mousse cake (can't remember the name) but it has a layer or rice bubbles, the smooth decadence of the mousse, combined with the crunch is just to die for! You'll be hard pressed to find better cakes! SOOO WORTH the trip to find these guys! (Check their trading hours though).
We've eaten here as a couple, a family and in a large group, and we've never been disappointed! Service is quick, portions are generous, and really tasty. We've been with a family member who has an allergy, and they were very accommodating. Don't leave it to the last minute to book, or you'll be disappointed.
Must have's:
Entree: Full Moon (deep fried, but OH so worth it!)
Main: Mixed Grill, Soft Shell Crab with green peppercorns.
Drink: Lychee Vodka w/ soda - YUMM!!
