This review is for Beach Cafe, Whyalla SA

verified email - 10 Mar 2015

The Beach Cafe is located right on the absolute beachside of Whyalla surrounded by the gardens. Additionally, the Beach Cafe has recently had an upgrade and is more roomy and offers further views of the beach.

I have attended the Beach Cafe on a number of occasions for all types of meals/snacks (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea etc). I do find that the Beach Cafe is somewhat expensive, with the costs being around the same as attending a local pub (specials), however, each time I have attended the meals/snacks have been as expected, being cooked well and are very tasty. The meals are also quite large and results in satisfaction.

The service is generally good, with the owners being especially friendly, and if regularly in attendance able to recall you and ask about your family. The only complaint that I have about the 'service' is that parts of the kitchen close at specific times and there are no signs and notes detailing this within the cafe, or on the menu.

I will be a regular customer of the Beach Cafe for time to come and recommend you to have a look if your after something tasty.

This review is for Angelic Bliss Hair Beauty Wellbeing, Whyalla Norrie SA

I have used Angelic Bliss Hair Beauty Wellbeing on a number of occasions, but only for their beauty services. The business does indeed provide hairdressing as well, however I can not comment on this.

On the occasions that I have been to Angelic Bliss Hair Beauty Wellbeing the service has always been nice, polite and helpful.

I have had waxing undertaken at the business, however whilst I believe they use good product, they were not successful in ensuring that all the hair was removed successfully. This resulted in me leaving with a less hairier upper lip, but still hairy non the less.

I have also had a facial completed and I enjoyed it, with it being relaxing, however because the business property is small in size it is unfortunate that all noise (conversations etc) can be clearly heard whilst the facial is being completed.

The prices for the services are on par with other beauty bars within the region. The facial was worth it's money, however I feel that the waxing is a little more expensive then it should be.

The service and value is still pretty good, and I will return to the service for further beauty treatments.

This review is for Andrew's Chicken Bar-B-Q Inn And Pizza, Port Pirie SA

Andrew's has been around for years, and I have been a regular customer for as many years as I can remember, and not once have I had a bad experience from them.

Over the years I have tried a variety of their food, which includes their kebabs, burgers, yiros and pizza and all of their food tastes sensational. My absolute favourite is their yiros, and having tried yiros in many locations this is the one I go back for again and again. The meat is absolutely beautiful (all marinated by the owners) and the yiros is always packed to the brink of explosion and fills you to the point of no return. Their pizza is always nice and also full. The owners take pride in their food, and you can tell!

The prices are amazing, I've been able to feed a family of four full grown adults for just over $30 from them, and we were all very full from what was offered.

I have never had any issues with the service, with them always being friendly, courteous and quick with their turn around of the meals. In fact if you go in their regularly enough the owners will remember you and at times even know your order...

I cannot recommend any other place more then here for their yiros!

This review is for Baker Bears Bakery, Solomontown SA

I have attended the bakery on many occasions and I have never been dissappointed.

"Pies, cakes, pastries, doughnuts" as their Facebook site indicates, and O.M.G. to most of it! I have tried a number of their pies and they are delicious and do not leave the film (of fat) at the top of your mouth. Their doughnuts, both cinnamon and flavoured are yummy and fresh, BUT my favourite is their Beesting! It is DELICIOUS, full of honey, cream and custard, it is absolutely devine and gets me every time!

The prices are good, being able to get a pastry (pie), and cake for two for under $20.

The service when I have been in there and sat to eat was good, with it being quick, and also helpful, going out of their way to ensure that myself, my husband and infant were catered for appropriately with seats etc.

This review is for H & L Plumbing, Whyalla Stuart SA

verified email - 14 Jan 2015

I have had this service attend my home on two occasions to complete a variety of work. The first task was to complete a toilet change over, the work was completed well and the price was fair. My only issue with the task was that we reqeusted that we have a toilet on the wall, however the plumber stated that it was unable to be done due to measurement (after research we found that there was one toilet suite that would've fitted).

We then had taps completely moved, with a new laundry being installed (new wash basin etc). When organising the job to be done the service was second to none, with them working around both mine and their schedules. The work was completed on time and well, with the price being good. When initially completing the tap changeover there was a small mistake which led to leakage, however one phone call was made and they were out as soon as possible to fix it.

This review is for Rebecca Scharber Photography, Whyalla SA

I have used Rebecca Scharber Photography on two occasions now and am so happy with the price, service and results on both occasions.

I have had both a newborn shoot and a 'mini-session' shoot with Rebecca, with both of them occurring at her home studio. Rebecca is one of the nicest photographers I have come across and does everything in her power to ensure your comfort and the best photo's she can provide.

During the newborn shoot Rebecca provided extensive time and breaks to allow for the baby to be fed during the shoot. Making a new mum (me) feel comfortable to breastfeed and ensure my baby's needs were met. The price was more then fair with the photo's being professionally edited and provided on a neat USB.

Both of the shoots I have had done resulted in more photo's then advertised and they were all beautiful to allow me to proudly show off my beautiful boy.

This review is for Safavi, Port Pirie SA

I have gone to Safavi's on three occasions for three different reasons. I've gone on a date with my husband for breakfast, a family lunch and coffee/afternoon tea with a couple of besties... On each occasion the service provided has been friendly with the staff offering a nice greeting, a smile and assisting in any way that they could.

The menu offered at Safavi is fairly large, with good options for breakfast and lunch. The breakfasts are the standards, however can be modified, for example the menu offers pancakes with berry compote or maple syrup and cream. I, however love pancakes with bacon and maple syrup so I changed it up and it was worth it! My husband enjoyed the 'rustic' egg and bacon toasted sandwich and it was huge and looked amazing!

For lunch there are many options which range from quesadillas, afghan bread pizza's, seafood and burgers. Again the burgers are huge and look great. I myself enjoyed a chicken stack which was a large serve, and yummy.

For those who just want a drink and cake, there are many options of both hot and cold drinks and a number of cake/biscuit options!

The prices at the cafe are I believe a little higher then other cafes, however the amount of food that is on the plate is huge, and to add to that is that it is good quality!

All in all I recommend the cafe as somewhere to go either during the week or on the weekend and I ill be returning.

This review is for Risdon Hotel, Port Pirie SA

Wanted a nice tea out as a family on our short stay in Port Pirie, and decided to head to the Risdon Hotel. Upon arriving the staff were pleasant and immediately offered assistance with by getting a high chair for us and offering a place for our pram to go out of the way.

The menu offered is extensive, with the food offered at reasonable prices. I got myself a fillet mignon, medium rare, and my husband ordered the salt and pepper squid. Whilst the fillet was very nice, it was not cooked to medium rare, going way over at 'medium well'. The salt and pepper squid was reportedly nice, being not chewy and well flavoured. The salad bar and vegetables that accompany the main meal had many options, with the potato bake being scrumptious!!!!!

This review is for The City Plaza Espresso Cafe, Whyalla SA

verified email - 30 Oct 2014

I've been to 'The City Plaza Espresso Cafe' on two occasions, one for a catch up with a mate and the second with my husband (as I had been impressed the first time...)

The Cafe is located in the City Plaza as the names suggests and when you enter it looks like any other cafe, and is welcoming, with some lounges to the side that you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea etc and have a good chat.

The menu selection offered is quite extensive, however I feel that the prices for some of the menu items are a little high for what you get; there are some fair prices for other meals though... The menu offers from sandwiches/rolls/wraps for those that just want a simple lunch, to hot potatoes, burgers, salads, hotdogs and a yiros... The sandwich prices look to me to be about standard (even though I think they're a bit ridiculous as a rule).

On my first attendance I had a special which was a bacon and cheese hot potato, and my mate had their prawn and advocado salad which she swore by (and looked nice). My potato was probably not a bad price ($9.90), however I am aware of cheaper prices for better quality elsewhere (although not a sit in cafe). The potato was good though!! Tasted nice and had good amounts of topping for the potato...

On my second visit (taking my husband as I had enjoyed the first attendance), it unfortunately fell short! I got what was advertised as a yiros, however had no flavouring and ultimately was some diced chicken. The semi redeeming factor were the chips. My husband got a hotdog 'with the lot', however could not get mustard (a typical hotdog sauce) as they only had it in a dressing. The hotdog was cooked well, however the rest of the very limited "lot" (bacon, cheese and onion) were barely cooked and barely there... This trip cost us $30, and we felt like it was defintely not worth it!

At this stage I may try it again, but will steer clear of both of the above options, and might go back to the potato, or give the schnitzel a go...

This review is for Genoa Pizza Bar, Whyalla SA

verified email - 28 Oct 2014

Genoa's is reportedly 'Whyalla's original Pizza bar serving Whyalla for 36 year's, AND I think it shows!!

Genoa's is a pizza bar that knows how to make a good pizza, with PLENTY of topping! The pizza's are always tasty, and I don't recall ever getting one that I was not happy with, with it always being piping hot and well flavoured! The topping's taste of quality and they definitely NEVER skimp on what they put on your pizza.

I have three 'go to' pizza's at the bar which are the 'Whyalla' - which has mushrooms on it, but are the gorgeous champignons (my fave), rather then fresh mushrooms. Then there is the meat lovers which is covered in salami, yiros meat and chicken and is delicious, and finally the 'Carlo special' which combines my love of seafood (prawns & oysters) with my love for ham! All three of them keep me happy, and on most occasions I will order a 'half & half pizza, so I can experience two of them, with my husband getting the third in a full pizza!

The staff are generally friendly despite the fact that they are usually flat out and the service is as quick as any other pizza bar (maybe quicker on occasion...) The prices are probably on par to traditional pizza bars, but obviously more expensive then the chains such as Pizza Hut etc, but I believe the extra cost is definitely worth it for a good tasting (not so greasy) pizza!!
