This review is for Gypsy Cafe, Redland Bay QLD

verified email - 13 Sep 2013

We recently visited the Gypsy Cafe for breakfast (despite being disappointed by the fare offered by the previous owners) and found that the quality of food was much, much better than before. My husband's Eggs Benedict were done to perfection, while my Poffertjes were light and fluffy. There is a range of breakfast options, from small and light to large and very satisfying! The bonus was that dogs are welcome at the outside tables, and a bowl of water is even provided for your furry friend. This is great if you want to drop in for a coffee while walking your dog. Inside, the ambience is just as welcoming. And of course, there is a view of the bay from the cafe. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, and we are looking forward to trying this cafe for lunch or dinner sometime.

This review is for Sara Lee Factory Outlet, Wendouree VIC

This small shop is tucked away in the corner of a shopping centre, and not very obvious, but it's a fantastic place to buy Sara Lee products - and other products - at a discounted price. Desserts, Danishes, pies, frozen chips, croissants - they're all here, at much cheaper prices than the supermarkets. The staff do not ignore you either - they are very friendly, and will help you find what you're looking for, or give you advice on other choices. This shop is well worth a look!

This review is for The Roxy Cafe, Bingara NSW

verified email - 11 Apr 2013

The grand, restored Roxy Theatre in Bingara, NSW is stunning already, but the adjoining café has now been restored as well - and it is absolutely magnificent! It offers top class meals in a beautiful "olde-worlde" setting, a reminder of a bygone era. Although closed on Mondays, it is open for breakfast and lunch all other days, and for dinner on Friday and Saturday. We were there for breakfast: my husband, an aficionado of Eggs Benedict, had high praise for his meal, which was created from scratch (often café Eggs Benedict comes with a pre-made sauce), while my pancakes were absolutely perfect. The chef is a master, hidden away in this gorgeous little town, and he was friendly and obliging as well. If you are travelling through northern NSW, you must experience the Roxy Café.

This review is for Crown Hotel, Maryvale QLD

verified email - 30 Mar 2013

We stopped in at the Maryvale Hotel for lunch on our way south from Brisbane. Although the range of food was not wide, they were extremely generous with their servings. Our steak sandwiches consisted of tasty steak on thick toasted buns with huge helpings of chips and salad. We ate at the big tables outside, and admired the classic country pub with its old rough-hewn timbers. In cold weather, you can enjoy your meal by the open fireplace. Marvellous ambience!

This review is for Schultes Meat Tavern, Plainland QLD

verified email - 17 Mar 2013

Schulte's Meat Tavern is one of those rare, genuine butchers where the meat just couldn't be fresher as it is sourced locally. They make their own Mettwursts, both plain and garlic, and other specialty German foods. This was where we were first introduced to Wagyu steaks, which are just amazing. Their bacon is a little strong for our palate, but it's far superior to the washed-out stuff one buys at the supermarket. If you are travelling between Brisbane and Toowoomba, I highly recommend taking an icebox or car fridge, and stocking up along the way.

This review is for Sweet Tooth Italian, Wellington Point QLD

verified email - 10 Feb 2013

This little cafe is an absolute gem! Their specialty is pizza, and the New York 18 inch pizza is amazing. They also specialise in gelati, not to mention other unique desserts on a pizza base, believe it or not. It's a great place to stop and have a coffee, too. This is a truly unique shop which is quite unlike anything else in the Redlands. The proprietor is very friendly, which is always a bonus. The only downside is that there is no website: to access the menu online, you have to go to Facebook. I strongly recommend a visit to Sweet Tooth Italian - let's help keep this family-owned business running!

This review is for SA Cafe, Ormiston QLD

verified email - 04 Jan 2013

The SA Cafe in Ormiston (so named for its slightly South African overtones) is a delightful little cafe in pleasant surroundings. Tables are offered undercover outside, or diners can sit up at a high bar-like bench which overlooks bushy parkland. We were there for breakfast - and their pancakes were so light and tasty! Nothing like the heavy sugary hotcakes which are usually passed off as pancakes at other places. The owner was very friendly, and we could browse the photos of South Africa, or the small range of South African produce on the shelves while we waited. Very relaxing; very comfortable; very friendly.

This review is for Alexandra Hills Bakery, Alexandra Hills QLD

verified email - 20 Dec 2012

This is just a small bakery, but they offer some great products for low prices. Their ham and cheese twists and other twists are incredible value for a quick, easy lunch - but get there before lunch or they will all be sold out! I recommend all of their products.

This review is for T2 Tea, Carindale QLD

verified email - 22 Nov 2012

T2 is the best place for a huge range of teas. There are dozens of flavours and blends. There really is something for everyone. There is also a large range of tea-related accessories. It's a great place to buy something for yourself, or a gift for someone else.
