I rang up to obtained a quote for the air con repair job last week, staff was very nice but the information present to me sounds like they will sent out a technician for diagnose and I just need to pay the call out fee (49 or 45? dollar) if I choose not to go ahead with their service.

As result, I organized a appointment last Friday and a clean/well present technician turn up on time. The problem was the technician said he has to do up a quote for the inspection before he start the job, therefore I have to paid the call out fee even I am not happy with the quote. This is very annoy as I would be much happier if they just tell me upfront that it will costs me 250+ to have someone diagnose the problem. This quote was done prior technician enter the house and he advised it was a set price, hence I don’t believe there is any reason why they can’t tell me the estimate price when I rang up.

I did accepted the quote on the spot as I didn’t think it through plus I don’t want to loss 49 dollar just to see someone show up in front of the house. The entire inspection took less than 30 min as I expected (I did hold a electrical related degree thus I had rough idea what component may be fault). With less than 30 min inspection and possible less 20 min travel, the math work out around 250+ dollar for 45 min work/travel. I used a lot trade people for personnel and work, this one takes the cake in charge out rate.

The real problem is I was advised that office will contact and provide me a quote for the actual repair job. With such expensive price, I expected a fast/top service but the result was disappointed. I waited ti Tuesday and had no phone call nor email from this company. I had to call to follow up as I don't want to pay 250+ just to have someone tell me that my air con is broken,I want it fix!

During the call, I was advised that they were waiting for price in parts and I can expect the quote before the end of day. The quote has arrived as promised but it come with another hefty price tag -508 dollars. My jaw dropped when I see this price as I am having trouble to believe the component and labor cost that much as I work in electrical relate industry as well. Since I had the price for brand new unit from first technician's visit (he quote 2100+ for package /install but you get discount if you sign up their annual support deal?? not sure the name but cost additional 90 dollar ), I decided to find out how much it would really cost me if I use other supplier. I was surprise to find out that all 3 suppliers I contacted charge at least 500 less for similar package (same air-con brand, not sure is the same model but all package are 2.5KW system with installation). The best news is one of supplier offer special cash back in Fujitsu air package/install (with 5 year warranty), therefore my total cost for new air con is still less than 1500 even I already paid 250+ for inspection. The best part is I don’t need to lock into annual contract to obtain a discount but still expensive package. If you like nice and well present service person to turn up to your front door, this company is good to go with. If you like me who after a solution for the problem with reasonable price tag, my personal option is take the business somewhere else.

The job turn out less than what he expected and he charged less than what he quoted me. Most important, I didn't even ask him and he just reduced the price. Wow, this is first electrian that charge me less than what he quoted. Very happy with the service and will call him for future job.
