READ THIS REVIEW FIRST BEFORE GOING TO FIXSPOT!!

Take your phone elsewhere. Read on for a horror story. I wish I’d looked up reviews of this place first because the terrible quality of the repair and rude customer service were all predicted by other people’s reviews.

Dropped phone off on 5th October for a screen repair. Was told it should take 1.5 hours. Came back 8 hours later and they told me it wasn’t ready. Came back the next day and was told it wasn’t ready. They then offered to deliver it later that same day, but called to say delivery would be an hour later than they first told me, and I couldn’t wait for that. SO the weekend goes by, and I finally pick it up on Monday 9th October… I stupidly only checked the phone once I got home, and the vibrator motor hadn’t been secured properly, so the phone had a funny rattle to it.

I took it back to them the following day, and had to convince them that it was a simple fix and it was their fault (it helps to have seen a youtube video on how to fix your phone, so that you can assure them that certain bits MUST have been tampered with in order to get the screen off etc.). Again, I picked it up later that day and went home without testing the other components of the phone. When I got home and moved my sim card back to that phone, I realised that the side camera button was not working, and that the sim card tray had been forced into the SD card slot. I could not believe that a place whose sole business is to repair phones could be that incompetent.

I took it back the next day to get this button fixed, and while waiting for someone to serve me I checked the other components of the phone. The main camera has dirt on the lens. Three or so large smudges around the centre. I showed the woman who came to the counter, and she tried to argue it was not their fault as they don’t have to take the camera out to replace the screen. I told her I know for a fact that they do, because I’d seen it done in every single youtube repair video for this phone. She reluctantly said she’d see what she could do, but I really had to fight for it to even be considered.

Later that day I got a text telling me they fixed the camera button, but the CAMERA itself needs to be replaced and it would cost $79. Keep in mind this is a genuine Sony camera that is regarded as being one of the best in the smartphone market being replaced with an average third-party camera, at my expense, because of their fault. I called them straight away and demanded they replace it for free, and got past on to the ‘head technician’ who tried to tell me that because I was not a phone technician I didn’t know what I was talking about. I told him that I didn’t need to be a technician to know that if the camera worked fine before the repair and was damaged following the repair, then it’s clear when it happened and who did it. He countered by offering me the replacement half price and I told him ‘absolutely not’ and I that I wanted to leave good reviews for them, but under these circumstances I couldn’t. He then said he’d call the store owner and get back to me.

Two days go by and no call. I call them to check what’s going on, and the lady tells me they’re replacing the camera as we speak (although they didn’t call me to confirm this).

I went in to collect it on Friday 13th October, and as I’m waiting the guy in front of me gets handed his phone back and his actual words were “What, did you guys put it through a blender or something?” Poor guy had come for a simple screen replacement and they’d mangled his back cover - bent it and scratched it. The woman working there tried to tell him that this is how it was brought in to them, but I jumped in and told him not to believe them, that they’d screwed me over several times and that he should stick to his guns. Luckily, he had taken photos of his phone BEFORE he brought it in, and had this to back him up. Aside from me and him, there were 2 other customers in the store, and this sort of public airing of my grievances was what I had been needing during this ridiculous and drawn-out saga of bad phone repairs.

SO she comes back with my phone, I open the camera app and THERE ARE STILL SMUDGES ON THE LENS. I show her and she’s just like “oh well, it’s not the camera because we replaced it”, but the smudges are in different areas which indicates it is physical damage and not an issue with the motherboard etc.

I said to her loud enough for everyone to hear (it’s also a small place, so that wasn’t hard) that I was not going to leave my phone with them again because I felt very uncomfortable leaving it in their incapable hands.

Only when I got home and tried to play some music did I realise they’d somehow screwed up my headphone jack…… I am going to do this repair myself… oh and the screen they put on isn’t even stuck down properly; I can see light escaping from underneath it (goodbye water resistance).

DO NOT USE FIXPSOT. You’re better off buying a lotto ticket.
