I first visited Lady Liz Bridal on a Sunday to browse their range of wedding dresses. We checked the website, which at that time said they were open 11am-2pm. When we got to the store during their "opening hours" we were rudely asked by the assistant if we had an appointment, otherwise we were asked to leave. After stating their website told us they were open, the assistant reluctantly turned on the lights and let us try on a few dresses.
I returned a few times after this to make the final decision on my dress. We ordered the dress I decided on, in the size I needed, and paid the 50% deposit required to secure the dress was ordered. This all went seemingly well. I paid the rest of the dress off less than a week later as I had heard of reports of dresses not being ordered unless the total amount was paid, despite what customers are told. I phoned multiple times during the next week to confirm my dress had been ordered. Being the most important dress I will probably wear in my life, I wasn't willing to leave anything to chance. I was told that my dress would arrive 12-16 weeks after ordering.
20 weeks later I called Lady Liz to ask re the status of my wedding dress. They told me they would follow up and, to their credit, they did and said dress would be another 4 weeks out! After a phone call from a family member requesting express delivery of my dress when available, the dress appeared in store only about 1 week later.
I was pretty excited for my first dress fitting, and was expecting everything to go well. I arrived for my appointment, taken into my fitting room and told to put the dress on then someone will be with me. Great! I went into the change room, my bridesmaids eagerly waiting to see me in the dress. I looked at the dress on the hanger and said 'that's not my dress!'. It was similar but had no straps (the one I ordered had straps), different lace and cut. I found a shop assistant who told me 'this is the updated version of your dress'. Um, I actually would like the dress I ordered! I ended up trying on this dress just to see what it was like. First of all, it was waaay to big and definitely not the size I ordered. Secondly, it fitted horribly and when I pointed out the adjustments that needed to be made, I was told I would have to pay for them and it would be expensive. Since Lady Liz had apparently stuffed up you'd think we'd be more helpful. After having an angry bride, bridesmaids and mother on their hands, they reluctantly went and retrieved the owner who said, and I quote "that's not my problem, what do you want me to do about it?". We said we wanted the dress we actually ordered! They store just happened to have the actual dress I ordered, brand new, out the back just one size too big. They could have offered this first up couldn't they? The owner, exhausted from us being quite angry at her, understandably, offered the correct dress to be altered to fit me for free. Great, that was the least they could do.
Second dress fitting, make appointment, turn up to appointment at 9am and was told no,your appointment is this afternoon. We asked if they could make time for my fitting since they actually stuffed it up but no, apparently my dress was not at the store! The owner had taken in home to look over. Um, why?
Finally, 4 days before my wedding I was able to take my dress home. Such a relief to never have to deal with the rude store owner again! Just a hint Lady Liz, don't annoy and/or be rude to people who are at the age where they know SO many people getting married. They will not recommend you to anyone!!!
The only reason I rate Lady Liz Bridal one star is because of the EXCELLENT work of Pam, the dressmaker working there when I went through the horrible experience of buying my wedding dress through Lady Liz.
